Abstract: The acid-base reactions are present in many industrial processes, being necessary to find out the composition
or volumes of an mixture by titrations, this method of analysis is one of the most useful and used today. The titrations
and graphics pH VS Vb can be presented in different ways depending on the composition of acid and base. That is, if we
have a mixture of strong acid – strong base, weak acid – strong base, strong acid – weak base, weak acid – weak base or
a poliprotic mixture. In this case, we will study the reaction of a weak acid (potassium biphthalate) with a strong base
(NaOH), where experimental pH was measured depending on the volume of NaOH added to the acid solution, finally
the results where plotted so we can know the Ka and the equivalence volume. The results shows a value of 5,39794 for
pKa, kB of 2.5 x 10-9 and pH of 7.88. It was calculated an error as the theorical-experimental difference. It was
concluded, that the weak acid-storng base reactions present a buffer period during theier initial phase and that the
obtained erros are mainly random and systematic.
