Dear Cattlemen,Welcome to our 32nd Annual Production Sale as we celebrate our58th year in the Angus business. The past couple o years have been some o the most challengingwe can recall. This year it has been the weather that has provided thebiggest challenge, and it has made the cattle and the people who care orthem stronger yet. We salute all the people involved in agriculture andtheir ability to adapt and persevere, continuing to produce enough oodto nourish our growing population. We regard our position in the bee industry as research and develop-ment, fnding and proving the sires that can orce their way past thegenetic antagonisms inherent in bee cattle production, and using somesires who are a little “o the beaten path” to help maintain genetic diver-sity.We will continue to strongly pursue multi-trait excellence and not giveup the progress we’ve made, solely to bring in new blood. These cattlestill need to excel on the measurable EPD traits to insure our customers’proftability, and they must be sound, ertile and efcient. We try to usemultiple and divergent bloodlines to give us and our customers moreoptions to select rom, and more genetic diversity in the breed. The bee industry has been challenged by increased input costs. Wethink the Angus cow is the most efcient in the industry, and the breedwill continue to dominate the genetics o the commercial cow herd. OurEPD system has allowed us to characterize Angus bulls very specifcally,so when a commercial producer buys that bull to do a certain job, he willdo that job. That reputation has been the driving orce or the popularityo the Angus breed in the commercial sector today. As always, we will do our best to provide you, our customer, withall the inormation we can to help you make good buying decisions.Check our website or sale updates, actual scan data and other pertinentinormation as we get closer to sale day. All breeding animals selling areeither tested ree o AM, NH, and CA, or have no pedigree risk.In our long-term tradition o “all the inormation – all the time” thiswill be one o the frst sale books you will see with Docility EPDs onmost all o the cattle selling. The other new EPD just released as this salebook goes to print is RADG, and it is just urnished on the ReerenceSires, since most o the sale cattle do not have this EPD at this time.We take this opportunity to thank Craig Conover or all his years oservice to our program, and to the seedstock industry. Craig was a greatjudge o livestock and people, as well as one o the most respectedauctioneers o his era, and we wish him all the best in his retirement. We hope you will be with us November 20 to give us your evaluation.Come early Saturday morning and enjoy our Missouri country breakastbeore the sale. I you cannot be here, our sale will once again be broad-cast live on the internet by DV Auction. See page 94 or details. For more inormation on any o the cattle in this oering, or i we canassist you in making travel arrangements, please call the arm ofce at(573) 581-1225 or the dealership ofce at (573) 581-5900.We look orward to seeing you!Sincerely,Eddie L.
