That finger play was a favorite
of mine from years ago when I taught
preschool. I’m reminded of it each Fall
as the leaves change colors, flutter to
the ground and crunch under my feet.
It amazes me that I still re-
member the finger play from 30 years
ago, but I can’t remember where I set
my glass of ice tea down 10 minutes
ago!
What makes the difference is
that I not only repeated the finger play
year after year, but I also understood
how it could benefit the preschoolers.
It provided large and small muscle ac-
tivity, reviewed colors and put the sea-
sons in order, plus was recited with
rhyme and rhythm.

As the autumn leaves continue to
change, I’m reminded of the changes we
have made in the last year and those yet to
come. I think too of the people we have met
and the changes that God brought to their
lives.
What a privilege to fellowship with
Rebecca Pierce the missionary nurse and
administrator who invested over seven years
of her life in service at KIST. I tried to soak
up all I could as she talked about God’s hand
at work in Kenya and my future role as mis-
sionary nurse there. We are so grateful for
Rebecca’s supporters who chose to transfer
that support to us, Blessings!! Please pray for
God’s blessing on her as she continues her
job search and transition from missionary to
resident American.

Another nurse with a heart for God
and the people in Kenya is Ruth Cooke. I had
the privilege of working with her at the clinic
during our six weeks at KIST in 2007. What a
blessing that she was able to fill in at KIST
again this year. She was hoping to stay there
through November but due to some health
issues, had to return to the United States
several weeks ago. She was so willing to
serve God wherever He led her even at the
wise age of sev…, well maybe I’ll just say
70’s. Please pray for Ruth, since returning to
the USA she has a new diagnosis of cancer
and will begin chemotherapy soon.
