Appendix E - Useful Resources1 Finding Sources of funding
1.1 The Directory for Social Change
(DSC) holds information on over 4,200 grant-making trusts and quotes that these trusts and foundations give a total of over £3.1billion a year (ref E). DSC provides publications, website information and training thatfocuses on fundraising, management, organisational and personal development,communication, finance and law to assist the voluntary sector. Their fundinginformation websites are:
 www.trustfunding.org.uk– a subscription based service
 www.governmentfunding.org.uk– a free registration service
 www.companygiving.org.uk – a subscription based service
 www.grantsforindividuals.org.uk – a subscription based service
1.2 j4b plc
is an information services company offering research, information publishing,technology and business services to a wide range of public and private sector clientsin the UK and abroad. They have a funding database website that offers asubscription service:
 www.j4bgrants.co.uk Subscription is from £6 to £99 for voluntary sector organisations. The site also hassome advice on how to apply for funding that does not require a subscription to view(see Resource Centre menu option). j4b also set up the Open4Community sites – see list below.
1.3 Open4Community Local Authority area specific sites:
Open4Community is a funding and support website for voluntary and communityorganisations. These portals provide comprehensive coverage of government, lottery,EU, non government and charitable trust funding opportunities in specific geographicareas.
