Often the door will have a lock, so the building can be left secure.If a building is to last for a long time, it must have a foundation. This is like the root of atree, which is sunk in the ground and supports the walls. If the ground is soft, thefoundation must be very deep and strong.
Building construction is the process of adding structure to real property. The vast majority of building construction projects are small renovations, suchas addition of a room, or renovation of a bathroom. Often, the owner of the property actsas laborer, paymaster, and design team for the entire project. However, all buildingconstruction projects include some elements in common - design, financial, and legalconsiderations. Many projects of varying sizes reach undesirable end results, such asstructural collapse, cost overruns, and/or litigation reason, those with experience in thefield make detailed plans and maintain careful oversight during the project to ensure a positive outcome.
A general contractor is a group or individual that contracts with another organization oindividual (the owner) for the construction, renovation or demolition of a building, roador other structure. A general contractor is defined as such if it is the signatory as the builder of the prime construction contract for the project.Thus, each such firm may offer itself as "one-stop shopping" for a construction project,from beginning to end. In the United Kingdom and certain former British Commonwealthcountries the term 'general contractor' was gradually superseded by 'main contractor'during the early twentieth century. This followed the practice of major professional, tradeand consumer organisations issuing standard forms of contract for undertaking the varietyof construction works spanning the whole spectrum of the industry. It was and is usualfor the term main contractor to be used and defined in all these contract documents, andas a result the term general contractor became an anachronismFor legal reasons it can be easier to hire and also release a contractor compared to aemployee that has Permanent employment. Large numbers of business owners choose tohire contractors because of uncertainty within their business or have constraints such asmaternity, illness or other legal factors which entail that hiring a permanent employee isnot a feasible option.
