East Brunswick Commuter Parking Advisory Committee October 2010
Golden Triangle Litigation:
East Brunswick and Toll Brothers have been attempting to negotiate anagreement to settle the litigation over the development of this property. The proposed settlement underconsideration will permit the development of the Golden Triangle property to be substantially differentthan proposed under the original plans. The changes will most likely include a “big box” store in thedevelopment, less set back space, reduced payment for the property and shared use of the commuterparking area with the remainder of the development. For additional information about the status of thisprocess, check out our web site or you can review our most current copy of the proposed agreement at:http://traceurl.com/go/1307/toll5242010.
Sam’s Club Closed:
As most commuters are aware, Sam’s Club has closed in the Golden Triangle. Weexpect that the now vacant building will be demolished. Changes in traffic patterns may occur once thattakes place. Please be on the lookout for any communications from the Parking Utility on this issue.
TCC Waiting Area Parking:
Numerous commuters have not been using the marked parking spots in theTCC waiting area. This is illegal and is dangerous for commuters and for waiting cars. The Parking Utilitycan and will continue to give tickets for this behavior. An alternative waiting area is in the garage itself.By pick up time, there is almost always lots of empty nearby parking spots convenient to the TCC waitingroom. You do NOT need a permit to park there during the evening hours.
Reporting Service Issues:
The CPAC cannot over-emphasize the importance of commuters assistingthe Township and CPAC by reporting service issues when you see them. Please let us know atebcommuter@ yahoo.com so we can make sure that they are appropriately addressed. Many issues inthe past have come to our attention only because of the efforts of commuters. Commuters are ourprimary method of keeping track of service issues and e-mails from commuters are vital in making surethat we get the service levels mandated under our contract. It is especially important to let us know if youbelieve that Suburban is not operating buses as scheduled, especially if this is happening on a regularbasis or that bus loads are such that additional seat capacity is needed.
Our Township's agreement with Suburban Transit on HVAC is two fold: (1) bustemperatures will be set as much as physically possible to 72 degrees F year round and that (2) the busair circulation system should be operating at all times. If either rule is not being followed, please reportthis to Suburban Transit or the CPAC for follow up with sufficient detail (bus number, date, time, etc.) forappropriate action to be taken. PLEASE DO NOT ASK A DRIVER TO VIOLATE THESE POLICIES. Ifyou are cold or warm, put on or take off your coat or move to another part of the bus. Kindly recognizethat not every passenger can be satisfied 100% of the time. Please note that during cold mornings thatthe buses may take a considerable period of time warm up since they are not permitted by law to idle inan effort to pre-warm the buses. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
The next meetings of the CPAC will be at 8 p.m. on November 9, 2010 and December9, 2010 in the Municipal Building Conference Room. All interested commuters are strongly encouraged toattend and participate in the discussion, along with the management of the Parking Utility and SuburbanTransit. 2011 meetings will be held on the following dates: January 13, February 10, March 10, April 14,May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, October 11, November 10, and December 8. Wesuggest that you check our online calendar athttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/EBCommuter/calto see ifthere has been a schedule change before you attend a meeting so you will not be disappointed if it hasbeen rescheduled.
