Subject
: Potential Infraction with Dem GOTV efforts in Weld County
Steve:This is to inform you of a potential infraction with regard to the Weld Democrat GOTV effort.I was contacted yesterday by US Postal Carrier, Mollie Yancy. She overheard a conversationbetween a female carrying a clipboard with a list on it and a resident in one of the apartmentsYancy delivers to. This is the conversation as it was relayed to me.Person: We understand that you are signed up to receive a mail in ballot, is that correct?Resident: Yes.Person: Have you turned it in yet?Resident: No.Person: Well today is the last day and we really need you to turn in your ballot. We can either give you 61 cents for postage if you want because you can't just put a regular stamp on it, or wecan take your ballot and turn it in for you.Yancy(Postal Worker): Don't you give this person your ballot. I am your mail carrier and if youwant to mail your ballot, you give it to me and I will mail it for you. Don't give your ballot tosomeone you don't know. And today is not the last day to vote.Person leaves.Yancy also called me this morning to report a conversation with someone at the Weld DemocratHeadquarters. She asked the person if they were sending out people to collect ballots and thelady responded that they were and there was nothing wrong with that. She asked if they wereoffering to pay the postage and the lady got defensive and asked who was calling. Yancydeclined to identify and ended the call.I am aware that a person can collect and turn in ballots. However, telling a person that this is thelast day to vote as an inducement to get them to deliver a ballot is not acceptable. Frankly, tellinganyone that this is the last day to vote is unacceptable unless it is indeed, the last day to vote.Offering anything of value including postage is also not acceptable. In fact, postage hasspecifically been ruled upon by both the Attorney General and Secretary of State's offices.I therefore request that you turn this over to the District Attorney's office for a full investigationimmediately. For purposes of the investigation, here are other pertinent details provided byYancy.Yancy's phone is (970) 301-1085. The address where the alleged conversation took place was at1817 28th Street, Unit A, Greeley.Yancy describes the person as follows:
