 by:
Martha L. Sempowski Ph.D.
This slide-illustrated talk will focus on current archaeologicalinterpretations of the life, culture, and well-being of the Senecawho lived in the Rochester area during the mid to lateseventeenth century. What was life like for the Seneca andhow was it changing during the years leading up to andfollowing the devastating French attack on them in 1687?What impact did European traders, missionaries, and explorershave on the health and native culture of these people? Whatwere the long-term effects of all of these influences on theSeneca people and their culture?
