Hello! i did the above directions and my ibook rebooted. but after that, it showed me the welcome screen in diff. languages and had me start to like register and everything. i started filling out the fields and after that part where you choose where u would usually use the ibook and if you are a student etc, after i click on next, it would always stall. i tried waiting several times but nothing happens. it just gives me a line in the middle of the screen and the continue button is grayed out. i've been trying to work on this for almost 6 hours now! please help!!! i do not have the cd's since the person who sold it to my on e-bay didnt have one and i was told that he was just selling it for a friend and when i had asked about the password he never gave it to me even when i bugged him about it for months....

Thank you for the info. However, after my computer was set up, I started using another User Name and Password that seems to be getting me by. I know it is not the original. What advantage is there in having the User Name and Password you used when the Mac was first set up. I had someone else do it for me, then he left, and I've never been able to get in touch with him since. Never returns my calls. When I ask my ISP, they give me the user name I'm using for my account to pay online and my ISP email User Name. But I suppose it is Apple's concern that it is the original name and password. I don't know, all I know is that for the two years I've had this Mac, everytime I log on, I know I'm in for another nightmare. I never play games on here, never send email messages to friends or relatives, never chat, never do anything fun on my Mac because I will always get an error message of some sort saying I don't have enough privileges, etc. Many times I have wanted to throw this thing out the door.

i dont have the cd because i have a mac from college, do i need the disk to create this account? =S, i dont really wanna lose my information =S

dont forget to have the os disc in the machine when u reboot! running osx leopard it worked for me thank you Mac-god!!!!

You might be the answer to everything that is wrong with my Macintosh settings. I spend hours and hours every day in keychain access. I have so many usernames and passwords due to not knowing anything about a Mac in the very beginning when I was setting up. I get a message telling me I need the password that I used when I first set up my Mac. I don't know what that is. I have to play guessing games for hours entering possibilities.
