Shadows are falling and I’m running out of breath

It’s the end of the day

My shadow gets longer

As it steals my breath away

No longer protected

By love

I watch it grow

Feeling my lungs

Tighten

How many more breaths

Before I fall limp

It’s almost dark now

And the shadow melts into the darkness

As the sun disappears

No more warmth

And I am almost empty
