Satyajit Ray and Mother Teresa, presided over by the immense
Victoria Memorial in white marble and on the other hand, there’s
the golden triangle of temple towns: Bhubaneshwar - temple city
of India, Puri – home of Lord Jagannath, and also a popular beach
resort and Konark where you can join the spectacular Rath Yatra
or gaze spell-bound at the stupendous Sun Temple of Konark rising
amidst the sand dunes from the blue waters of the bay. Fall in

The fascination of the Eastern Himalayas has always
bewitched people from all corners of the globe. The
mountainous range and panaroma is beyond one’s
imagination but at the same time upholds one’s belief in the
marvelous Hand of the Creator. Cradled within the precints
of the Great Himalayas, explore the well known Eastern
Himalayan hill stations of Darjeeling, Kalimpong and the
mythical Eastern Himalayan Kingdom of Sikkim.
GANGTOK
Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim and is famous for its
many important monasteries, picturesque views of the
Himalayas. It houses sites like Do Drul Chorten, the Enchey
Monastery and the marvelous collection of orchids in the
Orchid Sanctuary. Tshangu Lake is regarded extremely holy
and one of the major tourist attraction. Rumtek exhibits
Tibetan monastic art in Sikkim known for its unique
traditional architecture, beautifully carved and painted
woodwork and splendid murals.
DARJEELING
Perched in the foothills of the Himalayas and surrounded
by tea plantations, Darjeeling is the legendary British hill
station situated at 2134 m above sea level and is blessed
with a cool climate and a panoramic view of the Himalayas.
It is most famous for its magnificent tea estates. Major
attractions of Darjeeling include Tiger Hill from where one gets
to witness the spectacular sunrise over Kanchenjunga range,
Ghoom Monastery, Batasia Loop War Memorial, Padmaja
Naidu Zoological Garden, Himalayan Mountaineering
Institute and the Tibetian refugee self-help centre.

KALIMPONG
The Lepcha meaning of Kalimpong is ‘playground on the
ridge’. The dense forests of golden oak trees offset by the
rich undergrowth of moss and lichen provide an ideal setting
for balmy walks on thick cushions of russet-brown leaves in
an around Kalimpong. Monasteries in Kalimpong date back
to 1836 and the town is also famous for its flower nurseries
housing rare orchids and cactus.
PEMAYANGTSE
Pemayangtse – the laid back, scenic but rapidly swelling
hamlet is situated at 2,085 m above sea level. High
above the forest covered hills, in an amphitheatre of
cloud, snow and rock, it offers a spectacular view of
Mount Khangchendzonga. Pemayangtse has in its vicinity
numerous waterfalls, soft trek routes, monasteries objects
of worship, wall paintings sculptures, villages and soothing
atmosphere for the discerning traveler. The Khecheopalri
Lake is a tranquil lake surrounded by verdant forests and is
considered as one of the most sacred lakes in Sikkim.
LACHUNG
Lachung is an idyllic valley surrounded by mist-shrouded
mountains and great waterfalls. It is called as the flower
valley, replete with 500 waterfalls, hot springs, glaciers
and the majestic snow covered Himalayas. Shingba
Rhododendron Sanctuary located in Lachung (Yumthang
Valley) is noted for its abundance of Rhododendron trees. A
number of hot springs are scattered in the valley providing
an unexpected opportunity to feel the warmth of the water
even in freezing temperatures.

transferred to Kalimpong for a stay of one night.
Day 7: On to Darjeeling (75 kms / approx.
2 ½ hour drive)
This morning you will visit the Pemayangtse Monastery
following which you will drive to the Victorian hill station
of Darjeeling. On arrival you will check in to your hotel.
The rest of the day is free for shopping.

Day 2: On to Gangtok (85 kms / approx. Day 8: In Darjeeling

This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kalimpong.
Later in the afternoon proceed on a picturesque drive to

Day 2: In Pemayangtse
Today you will proceed on a half day sightseeing tour of
Pemayangtse visiting Rimbi Falls, Kanchenjunga Falls
and Khecheopalri - the wishing lake. Later, return
to your hotel.
Day 3: On to Gangtok (124 kms / approx.
5 hour drive)
Today, proceed on a picturesque drive to Gangtok. En
route, visit Ravangla - a small township in southern
Sikkim. On arrival into Gangtok, check into your hotel.

Day 4: In Gangtok • Excursion to Tshangu Lake
(45 kms / approx. 3 hour drive)
Early in the morning, depart for a half-day excursion to
Tshangu Lake (one has to obtain a permit directly in

Today you will drive to Lachung. En route enjoy a stopover
at Tashi View Point, which offers a panoramic view of the
mountains. Also visit Phodong Monastery and Chumthang
Valley, Twin Falls and Vima Falls. On arrival at Lachung,

Day 6: In Lachung • Excursion to Yumthang Valley
(25 kms / approx. 1 hour drive)
Early in the morning, proceed on an excursion to
Yumthang Valley located at an altitude of 12000 feet.
En route visit the Hot Springs and Singba Rhododendron
Sanctuary. Return to Lachung late in the afternoon. The

This morning, return to Gangtok, where on arrival you will

Day 3: In Gangtok
Today, proceed on a city tour of Gangtok. Gangtok or ‘Lofty
Hill’ as it is often called is situated along the picturesque
Himalaya foothills. Visit Do Drul Chorten, the Enchey
Monastery and the marvelous collection of orchids in the
Orchid Sanctuary. The evening is at leisure.
Day 4: On to Kalimpong (85 kms / approx.
3 hour drive)
In the morning, drive to Kalimpong, a pretty hill station
with the majestic Himalayas in the background and
gently rolling hills around. Enjoy a half-day sightseeing
tour of Kalimpong in the afternoon visiting Dello Hills,
Dr. Graham’s home and the flower nurseries.
Day 5: On to Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri

Shrouded by mighty Himalayan hills, the Northeast

parks including Kaziranga National Park – World

GUWAHATI
Guwahati is the Gateway to Northeast India
located on banks of the Brahmaputra River. The
Kamakhya Temple, which is situated high aloft
a hill called Neelachal Parbat or Kamagiri in the
city of Guwahati, is one of its several religious
landmarks that speaks about the rich historical
treasure of Assam. This temple had been built in
reverence to Goddess Kamakhya or Sati, one of
the numerous incarnations of Goddess Durga or
86 Goddess Shakti.
SHILLONG
Capital of Meghalaya, the romantic city of Shillong
is often referred to as the “Scotland of the East”
the city derives its name from “Leishyllong” – the
Superpower or God who is believed to reside on the
Shillong peak. Lying in the cradle of the tall pine
conifers and pineapple shrubs, Shillong’s undulating
terrain is a constant source of attraction for tourists.
The Khasi, Jaintia and Garo tribes add colour to this
hilly city.
KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK
The Kaziranga National Park is famous for its
great one-horned Rhino – a prehistoric survivor.
It is situated on the bank of mighty Brahmaputra
River and is spread across 430 sq.kms. Kaziranga
National Park is a world heritage site with a
landscape of sheer forest, tall elephant grass,
rugged reeds, marshes and shallow pools.

Orissa is a land blessed with the virgin beauty of endless
emerald green fields, meandering rivers dotted with
picturesque villages, exquisite temples and monuments

wildlife. The state once formed a part of Kalinga kingdom

BHUBANESHWAR
Bhubaneshwar, the capital of Orissa, is also popularly known as
the “Temple City of India”. Being the seat of Tribhubaneswar
or ‘Lord Lingaraj’ Bhubaneshwar is an important Hindu
pilgrimage centre. Hundreds of temples dot the landscape
of the Old Town, which once boasted of more than 2000
temples. Bhubaneshwar is the place where temple building
activities of Orissan style flowered from its very inception to
its fullest culmination extending over a period of over one
thousand years. The new Bhubaneshwar with its modern
buildings and extensive infrastructure perfectly compliments
its historic surroundings. With facilities to cater to every
type of visitor, Bhubaneshwar is an ideal tourist destination.
CHANDIPUR
Backed up by musical sway of casuarina trees and creeping
sand dunes, Chandipur is one such beach, but with a unique
distinction on its own. Unlike other beaches, the sea water
here recedes away from the shore line about five km twice
a day, an unusual phenomenon, rarely found anywhere. You
can see the sea literally vanishing before your eyes and also
watch it coming rhythmically, as if playing hide and seek.
GOPALPUR
Once buzzing with maritime activities, Gopalpur until 1942
was the frequented sea port during the British rule. The
crumbling walls, pillars and the light house stand witness
to its past glory. Now this tiny town enjoys the reputation
of being a popular beach resort in Orissa. The temptation
of bathing in the deep and clear blue waters with the white
surf splashing on the golden sands makes Gopalpur – on -
Sea as one of the finest beaches in the eastern coast. A trip
to Gopalpur –on – Sea is a rewarding experience of sun, fun
and frolic.
KONARK
One of the world’s greatest marvels and a priceless gem of
Orissan art, the Sun Temple at Konark has drawn a veil
of mystery around itself. Built in honour of Surya, the Sun
God, in the 13th century, the temple is built in image of the
chariot of the Sun with 7 horses (depicting 7 days of the
week) and 12 pairs of wheels (depicting the 12 months).
What remains today is part of the original massive temple,
in fact, only the entrance hall, which is 39 meters high, the
Dancing Hall, and ruined temple. Even today the sun rising
from the ocean shines on the three images of the morning
sun, the mid-day sun and the evening sun at different parts
of the day.
LALITAGIRI
The earliest Buddhist complex dates back to the 1st
century AD and Lalitagiri forms an important node of the
diamond triangle i.e. Lalitagiri, Ratnagiri and Udayagiri. Well
connected by excellent roads to Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar,
recent excavations here have brought to light significant
archeological material that upholds Lalitagiri as a great
centre of Buddhist attraction.
NRUSINGHANATH
Located in the sacred Gandhamardan Hills, which according
to legends, Hanuman carried on his shoulders from the
Himalayas as described in Ramayana, the temple at
Nrusinghanath is an important site of pilgrimage. It is also
an exceeding fascinating and a beautifully located temple
worth the journey to this rater remote spot. The Oriya
and Devnagari inscriptions on the temple indicate that
this temple was built in the early 15th century AD. On the
Nrushimha-chaatrurdasi day (in May) a big fair takes place
here and thousand of pilgrims visit the place to worship.

PURI its textile industry. Not to be missed is a visit to Hirakud

Puri is the hallowed seat of the Hindu religious deities
and one of the four most important religious centres
of the Hindus. Puri, situated on the shores of the Bay of
Bengal, is a city of lovely beaches, golden sands and gentle
sunshine. It is possibly one of the few religious cities that
provide the outdoor pleasures of sea and beaches along with
religious piety of ‘darshan’ a sanctified experience of divine
communion. The Jagannath Temple is an important place
of pilgrimage for the Hindus. Adjoining the temple is the
Ananda Bazaar or food bazaar, where food for thousands of
pilgrims is cooked and sold daily.
RATNAGIRI
Lying 100 kms from Bhubaneshwar, the city of Ratnagiri
is encircled by rivers, namely Mahanadi, Brahmani, Kimiria
and Birupa. Numerous Buddhist structures have been
unearthed from the nearby hill ranges and the excavations
carried out at Ratnagiri links the city to the 6th century AD
Gupta dynasty.
SAMBALPUR
Sambalpur district is situated in Western Orissa,
approximately 321 km from Bhubaneshwar. Once an
important centre for the diamond trade, it is now known for
Dam on the Mahanadi river. An engineering marvel, this
is the longest dam in the world and the largest dam made
of earth.
SIMLIPAL
The Mayurbhanj district of Orissa is the home to one of the
most important National Parks not only in Orissa, but also
in the country. Spread over an area of 2,750 sq. kms. the
park was specially chosen by Project Tiger for continuing
the onerous task of conserving the country’s depleting tiger
population. This tiger reserve now has over 95 Royal Bengal
Tigers within its lavish bounds. Over 230 species of birds
and other wild life species such as leopards, elephants,
mugger crocodiles and numerous reptiles abound here.
Simlipal also provides succor to thousands of tribal people
living on the fringe, thus giving an opportunity to witness
the tribal culture.
TAPTAPANI
Set amidst thick forests, Taptapani is known for its hot
sulphur spring said to contain medicinal properties for many
a cure. The hot water is channelised to a pond nearby to
facilitate people have a bath. The water is also piped directly
into the bathrooms of the Panthanivas (tourist bungalow).

the horizon by nearly 5 kms twice each day and then

places also worth a visit are the Khirachora Gopinath
Shrine in Remuna, the Jagannath Temple in Nilagiri and
the Shakti Shrine of Deokund.
Day 5: On to Simlipal National Park
(100 kms / approx. 3 hour drive)
This morning drive to the Simlipal National Park, home
to over 100 tigers. Other mammals found are leopards,
sambhars, langurs, deer, gaur elephants, antelopes,
chitals, chevrotains, wild boar, sloth bears, monkeys,
hyenas and porcupines. The park also has over 230
species of birds - the red jungle fowl, hill myna, peafowl,
alexandrine parakeet, crested serpent eagle to name a
few. There is also a sizable population of reptiles which
includes snakes, crocodiles and turtles. Visit the park to
view the wild life, flora and fauna. Relax in your lodge for

Day 6: In Simlipal

The cruiser sets sail along the beautiful Ganges towards
the south, passing through the various heritage sites for
seven to eight hours to reach Namkhana, a fisherman’s
cove and the gateway to Sunderbans. You can unwind,
relax, soak in the beauty of the river; read books in the
library; interact with the Wildlifer or take an ayurvedic
massage. The busy fishing harbour will give an insight into
the lifestyle of the fishermen. After the interaction with
the fishermen, the cruiser enters Sunderbans to navigate
through the narrower creek of Hatania - Doania River.
You will have the first glimpse of the dense mangrove and
the vast river system with several creeks flowing into the
main rivers. The evening is at leisure to watch wild life
film shows or interact with a wild lifer along with music

The next excursion in forenoon will be to the Botanical
Gardens. After a brief halt at Kolkata, the vessel sails
down the Howrah Bridge, the unique cantilever Bridge
across the river, Ganga joining the two metropolises of
Kolkata and Howrah. Sailing past the Howrah Railway
Station, one of the busiest in the world, and various
heritage sites on the banks of the great river, including
numerous temples and bathing ghats, the historical
point of arrival of Job Charnock, the House of Dolls, the
Nimtolla Ghat, the oldest Gun and Shell Factory in India
at Cossipore, arrive at Belur. Disembark to visit Belur
Math, a shrine built by Swami Vivekananda, in honour of
his great master Ramakrishna Paramhamsa Deb. By dusk
embark the vessel to sail up the river to Chandannagar,
a colony of the French till 1950. At the Chandannagar
Strand, the ancient French colony comes alive with bands
recreating French flavour. After a tour of the French
architecture of historical importance in the Strand
like the Church, the Clock Tower and the old hotels,
now housing the Civil Court and various educational
institutions you will embark the vessel to be treated to a
French dinner, befitting the ambience and the aroma of
the French settlement of yore. The vessel sails and later
anchors at Triveni for the night.
Day 5: In Cruise • Visit Mayapur
As the vessel sails, rural Bengal unfolds itself in all its
beauty, bounty and glory. The forenoon is spent on board
and activities include a talk about the magnificent Ganga
Heritage by a well-known historian. The vessel reaches
Mayapur, the headquarters of ISKON. Disembark at the
divine abode of Lord Krishna. The Hare Krishna cult of
the Gaudiya Vaishnava philosophy believes that Mayapur
is the place of birth of Sri Chaitanya. Nabadwip, the
ancient capital of Lakshman Sen, the famous ruler of
the Sen Dynasty, situated now on the western bank due
to the changing course of Ganga, was a great center
of learning and intellectual prowess, referred to as the
Oxford of Bengal and the place where Chaitanya Deb was
born in 1486. This was captured by Bakhtiyar Khilji, to
pave the way for Muslim Rule in Bengal. Enjoy a stroll
through these twin towns of Chaitanya faith and return
to the vessel for a quiet evening to let the divine feeling
sink in. At night the vessel cruises to anchor at Lal Bagh
in front of Hazar Duari, the palace with thousand doors.
Day 6: In Cruise • Visit Murshidabad
Murshidabad is one of the oldest cities of West Bengal
and has a rich heritage. It was the capital city of
Sasanka, the great king of Gaur. Start the day with a
pleasant walk through Khusbagh, an idyllic Mughal-style
Garden enclosing the tombs of Siraj-ud-Daulah, the last
independent Nawab of Bengal and his family. Return to
the vessel for recharging. Later come back on land and
visit places of historic interest like the Nizamat Kila,
the Hazar Duari Palace, in the Italianate style, the Moti
Jheel (Pearl Lake) just to the south of the palace, the
Muradbagh Palace, Khushbagh Cemetery. After visiting
the Hazar Duari Museum, Katara Mosque and the 18th
Century marvels of the Nashipura Palace and the palace
of Jagat Sett, both built in classical Georgian style by
rich local merchants and represents the other side of
the coin of the “White Mughal” period when English and
Indian cultures came close to fusion. In the afternoon,
enjoy a delightfully exquisite shopping experience of
Murshidabad silk. After a day well spent, the cruiser bids
good bye to Murshidabad and passes through the historic
battleground of Plassey. Entertainment at nightfall is the
highlight of the evening as the cruiser winds its way back
