Data Collection and Analysis

QUESTIONNAIRES

We had done the survey for our target group which is the Semester 1 students of Faculty of
Communication and Media Studies. The questionnaires had been distributed to 20 respondents.
Based on their results, the data tabulated according to the questions. These are the results:-

According to the bar chart regarding on the people’s visiting the appropriate website, we have
questioned 20 correspondents and 12 among them admitted that they are visiting the
appropriate website. This means that 60% among the correspondents not visiting the
inappropriate website. The research also shows that only 4 correspondents which are 20% are
visiting the inappropriate website. At the same time, there has 7 correspondents which are 25%
are not sure whether they are visiting the appropriate or inappropriate website. Now, we can
conclude that the students Semester 1 of Faculty of Communication and Media Studies still
visiting the appropriate website rather than inappropriate website.

During the research, we questioned 20 correspondents on their choice of information


source. Instead of relying entirely on the Internet, 5% among of the correspondents go
for magazines, 30% rely on the newspaper. 10% of them believe in book as well as the
journal and most of them which cover the 45% of the correspondents refer to television
as a truthful source of information. The research also shows that none of them believe
in radio as their source of information. Therefore, it is clear that this students believed
information that comes from the television the most compared to any other resources.

Besides that, we also found out whether it is true if the correspondent is addicted. Based on the
bar chart, it is proved that 40% admits that they are addicted to the internet. 25% say no and
other 35% claimed that they not sure whether or not they are addicted to the internet. To
conclude, most of the students do really addicted to internet and surf the net as often as
possible.

From the research, we also found out the from 20 correspondent, 85% admitted that
they spend most of their time to onlining daily. 10% say that they only online once in a
week and the other 50% claimed that they never did use the internet. Therefore, it clear
that these UiTM students do spend a lot of their time surfing the net and admit that
they use it daily.

ILLEGAL HACKING PRIVACY VIOLATION ADDICTION TO PORNOGRAPHY

In our research too, we listed five of internet problems that are widely discovered as a huge
problem due to the internet and required our correspondent to rate these problems. One of the
problem is illegal downloading. According to the bar chart, it shows that 13% of our
correspondent rated this problem as worse and 13% says that it is just average. 20% says that it is
just bad and another 20% claimed that illegal downloading is not exactly a problem. Majority of
30% says that illegal downloading is acceptable.

The next problem is hacking. Among 15 correspondents, 13% claimed that hacking is the worse
problem, 33% claimed that it is bad, another13% says that hacking is not much as a problem and
majority of 47% says that hacking is just an average problem.

Besides that, we also listed privacy violation as one of the problem. 20% of our correspondent
says that it is worse as well as not a problem. 13% of them claimed that privacy violation
problem is bad and majority of 47% rated privacy violation as just an average problem.
In addition, we did ask our correspondent to rate another problem which is addiction to social
networking websites. 13% of them claimed that addiction to social networking websites are
worse and the other 13% says that it is not a problem. On the other hand, another 7% says that
this problem is bad. Majority of 53% agree that addictions to social networking websites are
actually acceptable.

The last problem that we consider in our list is the pornography. 13% rated this problem as bad
and the majority of 87% claimed that this problem as the worst.

Based on the research above, we can conclude that most of the students together agree that
pornography is the major problem among all. Besides that, many says that addiction to social
networking websites are just acceptable and not actually a huge problem
