Head Teacher
Dear Parents/Carers,
We have been back at school for a week, the clocks have changed and we have had
four hard frosts. I think winter is upon us!
We have a busy term ahead leading up to Christmas. Here are some of the events
that have taken place recently and some more dates for your diaries.
THEATRE VISIT
We had a very successful visit from the Midlands Theatre Group who put on a
production called THE ARABIAN ADVENTURE. The children throughly enjoyed it.
PARENTS EVENINGS
This year, due to the extra INSET day, the Parents Evenings will be held on Monday
15th and Tuesday 16th of November. Please return your slip as soon as possible to
allow allocation of appointments. Those not returned will be given a set time.
INSET DAYS
Please remember there will be 3 consecutive In Service Training days for school staff
on Wednesday 17th, Thursday 18th and Friday 19th November when school will be
closed to pupils. Teachers will be undertaking training in Literacy with other
members of our Local Management Group, Maths, Technology, Assessment for the
Curriculum for Excellence Levels and whole staff Fire Safety training will take place.
A busy three days for us.
A RIGHT BLETHER 9th November
As part of our work as a Rights Respecting School, we have signed up to be a voting
centre for “A Right Blether”. This is where the Commissioner for Children will ask
pupils to vote on issues that are particular to them, such as:- My home, Where I
learn, My Community and Scotland.
REMEMBERANCE DAY
Poppies will be on sale in school from the 8th – 12th November for pupils to buy. A
donation of no less than 50p can be sent in, they will be sold daily by the P7s round
the classes. P7 will also do a short presentation for the school on Thursday 11th
November and we will hold a 1 minute silence to remember anyone who has given
their life in a conflict.
BLYTHSWOOD BOXES
Primary 2/3 coordinated this project to fill shoeboxes with small presents for children
in Eastern Europe. We filled 50 boxes which will soon be sent off. Many thanks to all
who donated.
Yours sincerely,
Jane Sheldon
