We have been illusions of Time,
Shadows in the Distance.
Yet full of promise
Of intergalactic love
For our earthbound,
Ravaged hearts.
Taking each other's fears
We released them like
Streamers on a kite to rise
Over wind-tossed waves of doubt.

You reached for me

With trembling hands,
Holding tight and leading us
To a new home, a new hope.
Together we watched a New Dawn
Break old patterns of backs
Turned, attentions spurned.
Dreams of a different life
Aching to become our new reality
Far from uncomfortable pasts.

But the Serpent who dwells

Just around the corner,
Beneath the garden of the Moon,
Could not abide this leap of faith.
Watching from its Observatory
It plotted to prevent our escape,
To keep us bound by fear, unable to run.
Yet love burns bright and will out,
So we wait for that one, brief moment
It will finally look away!
