“A Year to Remember” – A Letter from the
Executive Director
Dear Friends,

To say this has been “a year to remember” is truly an understatement. As I look
back over the past 12 months and beyond I am reminded over and over again of
the incredible journey we have been on. Mandy and I knew so little about what
God was actually asking us to dive into when God first laid the vision of The
Restoration House (TRH) on our hearts during the summer of 2005. There have
been many ups and downs, but the blessings far outweigh it all. The vision of
helping to restore single mothers and their children back to God‟s good intent
for their lives has not changed since the beginning, although the way that vision
is being played out has grown and matured along the way.

Many of you have played a tremendous role in maturing the vision and we can‟t

thank you enough. While others of you have, and continue to be, incredible
sources of encouragement. And all of you are playing a part in supporting single
mothers and their children through the work of The Restoration House.

I have also been reminded over and over again within my own spirit that this is
not about The Restoration House, but it is about God working in the lives of
single mothers and their children to bring about wholeness and restoration. All
too often we get so involved in the process of doing good that we forget about

the relationships. As the “work” of The Restoration House grows more complex
and even busier, I ask that you pray that the opportunities to build deep
supportive relationships will continue to grow as we partner with more and
more single mother families.

Our hope is that this partnership report is a celebration of what God can do
when a community comes together to love and support single mothers and their
children. We could not be more excited as we look toward the future. God is

doing amazing things…
Your friend and servant in Christ,
Daniel Watson
Executive Director
Andy Rittenhouse
Local Missions Pastor,
First Baptist Concord…
“Having been actively
engaged as a “city pain”
researcher for the last 7

years in Knoxville, I deeply
appreciate the need for
The Restoration House. I
believe the concept is very

sound…”
Chris Martin
President, Knoxville
Leadership Foundation
“True leaders are those
who can see a need,
envision a solution, and
then put things in motion

causing change to take
place. Daniel and Mandy
are leading in the area of

providing transitional
housing for single
moms…”
Grant Standefer
Executive Director,
Compassion Coalition…
“Restoration House is a
well-researched, well-
planned, thoughtful,
comprehensive approach
to one of the greatest
needs of our community.”
Burt Rosen
Executive Director,
Knox Area Rescue
Ministries…
Speaking from my
personal and professional
experience within the
continuum of care for the
people of Knoxville, I find
The Restoration House…
to be a viable, much
needed entity for our city.
