Hidalgo Silvio Task: Analysis of “The Lamb”

6C322

The poem is actually about a little boy and he asks to a lamb: “ Little lamb, who
made thee?” It’s possible that the boy has learned or heard a story about this
subject and now he wants to tell it to the lamb.

In the first paragraph he only asks things and he describes the lamb (softest
clothing, such a tender voice and so on…) There’s also a personification used in
this poem: by the voice of the boy, the vales rejoice.

In the second paragraph he says: “I’ll tell thee.” He explains “it” (“ Little lamb,
who made thee?”) to the lamb. He says to the lamb that He is called by his name.
(Christ is often called “The Lamb.”) The lamb is also a metaphor for a child. And
at a certain time he says: “ We are called by his name!” So I think that the lamb is
actually a child. At first sight it’s an easy poem, but it’s very philosophical.
