COMMISSIONER CANDIDATE ALREADY COST THURSTON COUNTY $1.5M

OLYMPIA, WA, JULY 25, 2008: Sandra Romero, a Thurston CountyCommissioner candidate, has cost Thurston County an estimated1.5 million dollars over the past two years.The breaking news was reported today by a political blog calledThurston-Opinions and was initiated by an anonymous emailsubmission. Scott Roberts, the blog administrator said, “Ireceived an anonymous email that tied Sandra Romero to apowerful special-interest group called Futurewise and their 2005Growth Management challenge to Thurston County. We investigatedthe claim and uncovered the startling information.”The political blog has posted Thurston County’s estimate ofabout $1.5 million dollars to the blog as well as screen shotsshowing Sandra Singery Romero as a board member of the group.Thurston County currently has a budget crisis and the newcommission will be facing a 4 million dollar shortfall. Romerohas recently commented on the budget and said, “[the] budget isthe biggest problem right now, it is the driver of all of ourwoes ... with almost a 4.5 million dollar shortfall it's goingto be very difficult to get out of it.”
