Despite all attempts at denial and obfuscation there is an unconscious factor, a black sun, which is

responsible for the surprisingly common phenomenon of masculine split-mindedness, when the right
hand mustn't know what the left is doing.

It is a frightening thought that man also has a shadow side to him, consisting not just of little
weaknesses- and foibles, but of a positively demonic dynamism.
