ways they are.
• Standard Installation.
• Network Installation.
• Automated Installation.

STANDARD INSTALLATION :
The standard installation can be done through the
bootable xp cd (compact disk).It’s just like the normal
installation.We will see it in the simulation.
Suppose if you have done the xp bootable cd .
Then you install from the command prompt. The
command is WINNT.EXE (OR) WINNT32.EXE.

STANDARD INSTALLATION :
Winnt.exe is used to start the installation in MS
Dos or windows 3.x.
Winnt32.exe is used to start the installation from
the command prompt in WIN 95,98,ME,2000.

NETWORK INSTALLATION :
Network installation is nothing but
installation files of windows xp are located on a
network share.It is not like your standard
installation .You can start either an upgrade or a clean
installation from a netork point.When you perform a
network installation, the computer on which you are
installing windows xp must have a connection with a
network share.

An automated installation is simply one no user
intervention is required during the setup process .
There are two methods for automated installation
• UNATTENED INSTALLATION
• REMOTE INSTALLATION SERVICE (RIS)

UNATTENDED INSTALLATION :
An unattended installation an administrator uses a
program called setup manager to specify answers to
many of the options that are required during setup .
Setup Manager creates a text file called answer file
from which windows xp setup can pull the
information.
