Assembly of God. Bist December 1978. PRAYER BULIBTIN - No.l3.a Dear Prayer Partners, Well, we have cone to the last day of the old year! ‘two verses of an old hymn keep running through my mind ~ "Time like an ever rolling strean, bears all its sons away, they fly forgott- en as a dream dies at the opening day" - and "Ghange and decay in all around I see, 0 Thou, Who changest not, abide with me". Sone of us have had to bid farewell to precious loved ones end many more are missing dear friends. ‘pat ien't the world changing? We are witnessing changes in the political, economic, spiritual and moral life of every nation. The young people are facing an entirely new world, and the future is fraught ith such uncertainty and foreboding! However, Onristians "look not at the things that are seen, but the things that are eternal” (2 Cor 4.18) Thank God, some things change not! Hallelujah! "Jesus Christ the sane yesterday and today and forever", He is beyond the law of change. We can trust in Him and hold fast to Him, knowing that He wants to bless ue in every hour of our need! Through Him ye are equal to every emergency. "T can do ell things through Gurist which strengtheneth me" (Ph 4.13) AND THE LOVE OF GOD IS CHANGHLSSS 100! "Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love". (Jer 31,3). The affection of friends may change and die, but God's love nevor varies. HS WORD OF GOD ABIDSTH Here is this world of change is the one Book we oan trust, we can rest in for time and eternity. and lastly, In contrast to the Kingdoms of this world ix God's everlasting Kingdom! They who put their trust in Jesus can be bright and optimistic anid the terrifying world changes, for soon, He who is the King of Kings, will come end reign for ever and ever! Praise His Name! THE MORNING WATCH. Tt seous that we are always wanting something fron God! 02 course, this ie right, for we are dependent upon Him for everything. But there is something God wants fron us. Jesus said that trueGhrist- iene, "shall worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, for the Rather sesketh such to worship Him" This could well be translated, Wpor the Father loagoth for such to adore Him genuinely in the Holy Spirit". Now, den! that such wonderfull! However, this means that when we enter His presence our hearts should be just buming with love, and our opirits hushed in awe and wonder! But how can we be brought into that condition? I believe real worship can be inspired by meditation upon the attributes of Cod, (Gis Power, Holiness, Omnipresance, Onniscience, Grace, Mercy, etc) a8 they are revealed by His Spirit in Eis Word.’ Such meditation takes time, quietness and a receptive mind; time to keep still and ieten as the Holy Spirit tells us of the wonders of God and of Jesus. If in quietness we wait Until ve see Him in all His beauty and fulness ~ vat else con we do but adore Him! Surely we won't be able to express our aforation as we showld~ but what ie true worship but LOVE UNABLS 10 EXPRESS ITSELF (except in the heavenly language)? This is God's desire of ue - shall we not endeavour to find time fox such meditation, and tow quistly in His presence and with over Flowing hearts - ADOBE.ETS! Tn IS A DSPIGABIS “Disoraoa!! 11 Jesus cane to destroy the works of the devil ~ but so many at Christ- mastine seek to keep up the works of the devil. What does lust, or gluttony, or drunkenness, or the works of the flesh have to do with The birth of Jesus? Josis cane to cave His people from their sins, not to urge then to participate in then! Why should more sins be connitted at Christmastime in a few days than in many weeks at other tines? Such disgraceful observance of the birth of Christ is an affront to a holy God. Riotous revelry instead of reverence and worship is of hell ~ not of heaven - of man - not of God!
