Badminton Rules and Regulations

1. Squads: 10 players (a maximum of 5 and a minimum of 4 players of


each gender) + 2 officials

2. Schedule:

Please see attached timetable. All matches will be played at the Tycoch
College Sports Centre

3. Regulations:

3.1 Matches will be conducted under the Rules of Badminton as sanctioned


by the IBF

3.2 The competition will follow that of the National Championships Premier
Division County Format.

2 men's singles
2 women's singles
2 men's doubles
2 women's doubles
2 mixed doubles

In each event, each player or pair shall play only their opposite number.

3.3 The order of play will normally be in the order above, however, it may be
changed with the mutual consent of the team captains. If mutual
agreement cannot be reached then the order of play shall be decided by
the Tournament Director.

3.4 Teams sheets for each match shall be submitted to the Tournament
Director 30 minutes prior to each fixture. Players/pairs must be listed in
order of strength.

3.5 Any appeals regarding the nomination of players / composition of Teams


must be made to the Tournament Director before the start of each
Match.

3.6 Scoring for matches will be the best of three games to 15, with the
exception of women's singles which will be the best of three games to
11.

3.7 In the event of a match being drawn, then the result of the match will be
determined by:

3.7.1 number of games won


3.7.2 number of points won

3.8 The overall winning team shall be the team winning the greatest number
of matches over the course of the three fixtures.
3.9 If a tie exists after the application of 3.6 then the winners shall be
decided by:

3.9.1 number of games won


3.9.2 number of points won

3.10 Intervals between games shall be according to the rules approved by the
IBF for international play, including permission for coaching to take place
prior between games.

3.11 IBF approved feathered shuttlecocks must be used

3.12 Players must play in the colours of their National Universities Team.
Rules on clothing are at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
