In the early 900s Franklin na-
tive, Elliot Butterworth, realized
that the town’s original settlerswere passing away and saw an
opportunity. He began attendinglocal estate sales and buying hisneighbors’ old things. In 98 he
opened the area’s first museum
in the old stone Mercantile Co-
op building and called it the Relic
Hall. In 937 the Relic Hall was
moved into a new, much larger
bulding next door. When you’re
in the area, stop in an enjoy theRelic Hall for yourself.
