Basic Hat by Sharon Hoelzle
This pattern makes a relaxed, loose fitting hat (approx 20
circumference). If youwould like a tighter fitting hat, subtract stitches in multiples of 4 to get the gaugeyou want.Materials: Micro Spun yarn by Lion Brand in a main color and a contrast color if you want stripes, 4 size 6 US DPN
s (optional small circular needle size 6 US),stitch marker and a tapestry needleCO 120 sts, dividing 40 stitches on three needles and use the 4
as your workingneedle. Join in the round, placing stitch marker to mark beginning of row. Workin K2,P2 rib for approximately 1 inch.Change to Stockinette Stitch (knit all stitches when working in the round) forabout ¾ of an inch. At this point, you can add a contrast yarn for stripes if youchoose. I did two rounds of red, two rounds of black and alternated to create thestripe effect I wanted. If you do not want stripes, just work in your main color.
