UnitedStates
is
preparing
to
launch
the
second
in
a
series of
photographiclaboratory spacecraft
to
orbit
the
Moon.
LunarOrbiter
B
is
scheduled
for
launchby
the
NationalAeronautics
and Space
Administrationfrom
Cape
Kennedy,
Fla.,
within
a
Nov.
6
through
11
period.
Lunar
Orbiter
spacecraft
are flown
to
continue
the
efforts
of
Ranger
and
Surveyor
to
acquireknowledge
of
the
Moon's
surface
to
support
the
Apollomannedlunar landing
program
and
to
enlargescientificunderstanding
of
the
Moon.
The
850-pound Orbiter willbe launched by an
Atlas-Agena D
vehicle
on
a
flight
to the
vicinity
of
the
Moon which
takes
about
92hours.
Ifsuccessfullyinjected
on
its
lunar
trajec-
tory,
thissecondof
five
spacecraftwill
be
designated LunarOrbiter
II.
