 As I conclude my two-year tenure asChairman o the Board o JANY, I nd myselrefecting on the relationships we have builtand the lives we have touched in pursuit oour mission
to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy 
.For JANY, the 2006-2007 year has proved tobe a watershed moment in the organization’sdevelopment and growth. We now have anaggressive and innovative plan to increaseJANY’s resources, reach and impact – asnoted in Doug’s message. The strategic planwill position JANY to be more competitive, customer oriented,results driven and nancially solvent. The JANY Board isinvigorated, engaged and committed to doing their part toensure that the strategic plan goals are met through theyear 2010.We’re on our way to developing and re-engaging a vibrantand successul alumni base – potentially an invaluableresource and support network or the Junior Achievementmission. At JANY, we’ve attracted a talented, innovative andvisionary team o sta – JA’s relationship brokers – who work tirelessly to preserve and connect key constituent groupsto the JA mission.I am proud to end my tenure as Chairman on such a highnote o optimism or the uture. I’m proud to be a membero such a passionate, diverse and talented community oindividuals who are committed to developing the potentialo young people. I’d like to welcome JANY’s incomingChaiman o the Board, Anré Williams, President, GlobalCommercial Card, or American Express. I’m condentthat Anré will provide the leadership skills necessaryto ensure that the 2010 strategic goals are met.Finally, I would like to thank JANY’s Board Membersor their continued generosity and support o the JA mission. I’d like to thank Doug or his support, partnershipand vision in helping to guide the development o theorganization. I look orward to remaining an active andinvolved member o the JANY Board during the nextphase o development and growth.Phillip K. I am pleased to report that Junior Achievemento New York (JANY) has enjoyed a good yearand has laid the groundwork or a bright uture.Our programs reached 93,085 (+2%) studentsin 4,150 (+8%) classes throughout New York City and Long Island. Total revenues topped$4.7 million (+6%) and we ended the yearwith a modest surplus. Deeper into thisannual report, you will read specics on ourprogrammatic and undraising innovationsand accomplishments. At our June 2007 Board Meeting, our Board o Directorsapproved the 2010 Strategic Plan that will chart our course or thenext three years. Over 70% o our Board membership participatedin our 2010 strategic planning process, resulting in a plan thathas ocused and energized our entire organization. The newStrategic Plan will position us to reach 113,000 students by 2010,while increasing the number o middle and high school studentswho benet rom our programs.I want to recognize the leadership, over the past two years, o ourBoard Chairman, Phil Lynch, CEO o Asset Control. Since joining theboard in 2002, Phil’s commitment to the mission o the organizationhas been one o leadership by example. As a classroom volunteer,he has rst-hand understanding o the need or the work we do. At the same time he values and appreciates the signicant ways ourvolunteers touch and transorm the lives o the young people weserve. He epitomizes the core value o
passion or what we do and honesty, integrity and excellence in how we do it 
. I thank him orhis unailing support and guidance. He hands our new Chairman, Anré Williams, President, Global Commercial Card or AmericanExpress, a stronger organization. JANY completes the 2006-2007 year repositioned or success as amission-ocused, values-based, demographics-driven organization.We are ortunate to have such an amazing community o individualswho sincerely care about the uture o our young people. In additionto our Board o Directors, this group o over 16,000 individualsincluded: 4,810 program volunteers, 2,718 classroom teachersand over 9,000 bowl-a-thon participants. We are grateul to oursupporters and investors, our volunteers, our partners and our staor their contributions to a unique and passionate community opeople connected by a commitment to JA’s mission
to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy
