Tom

Marg.
-
You can go if you like, dear.
Tom
-
But won’t you come with me?
Marg.
-
No, I won’t go with you this evening, dear. I must writeto my mother.
Tom
-
Very well. I’ll come back soon.
Marg.
-
Take your raincoat with you!
Tom
-
Oh no! That won’t be necessary.
Marg.
-
Yes, it will. There were clouds in the sky. I’m sure thatit will rain soon.
Tom
-
No, it won’t. It’s a very fine evening. Come on! Let’s goout.
Marg.
-
All right. But you must wait until I finish writing theletter.(An hour later)
Marg.
-
Tom, I’m ready now. But wait a moment. Why don’t wego to the theatre instead?
Tom
-
A good idea!
Marg.
-
But then I must change my dress.
Tom
-
All right.
Marg.
-
Which dress shall I put on? The green one or the blueone?
Tom
-
It doesn’t matter. But dress quickly! It’s rather late.
Marg.
-
I’ll be ready in ten minutes.(25 minutes later)

Marg.
-
I’ll need a shawl. But which shall I take? The whiteone?
Tom
-
It doesn’t matter, Margaret. Take any shawl, but pleasebe quick! If we arrive late, we won’t find any goodseats, and you’ll make a fuss.

There will be ices at the bar in the theatre.
Marg.

But perhaps they won’t have strawberry ices.
Tom

And will that matter very much?
Marg.
