7 OR 5 TO 3?
N
o, this is not a takeoff of the
rock music group Chicago’s “25or 6 to 4”. This is a proposition for a
smaller village government. With apopulation near 1000, why do weneed 6 Trustees and a President? This can be seen in the MunicipalCode (1985) in Section 2-31. Wouldwe suggest an agenda item at thenext Village Board Meeting? Con-sider that villages with populationsof around 10,000 to 35,000 in ourarea have anywhere from 5 to 7board members. Lisbon with apopulation of 9898 (2010) has only

andidates for public office for the Spring 2011 election may file their nomination papers starting the firstof December, 2010. The deadline for filing is January 4th.
As of this printing
, the following Trustees areup for re-election: President Martin, Trustees Balsiger, Newman and Bartelt. Papers must be filed with theVillage Clerk, Mr. Lamb. The forms are available at the Village Hall on Main Street. This is our opportunity tostep forward to make a change. Remember that this is a part-time, paid position. Village board meetings areheld once a month and committee meetings as required unless otherwise noted. If you are not satisfied withyour current representatives, let your voice be heard. Step in as a candidate or vote to make the difference. <
A TIME FOR CHANGE?
5 elected representatives. AndRichfield, with a population of over 10,000 has only 5 electedofficials and a Village Adminis-trator. Looking at these num-bers, does it really make senseto have 7 elected officials for avillage of only 1000 or so resi-
dents? Talk about “Big Govern-ment”. We can and do have the
ability to change the ordinances.Of course reducing governmentwould mean losing jobs. Trustee jobs! By the way, what hap-pened to the 63 people missingfrom the totals on the signs thatare currently on our streets? <

he corner of Lannon andGood Hope Roads is a 4-Waystop. Unfortunately, vehicleseither run the stop signs or
make the famous “rolling stops”.We have seen both. Why? Don’t
we see the big red signs or arewe color blind? What is it goingto take to stop this? Injury ordeath? Maybe flashing red LEDstop signs would help. We canspend money for storm watersurveys, how about for safety? <
