Sorry IAN1962 -- as U say it's an SLR (self loading repeat) -- we knew them as FN's. No aggro intended. It's a great shot Michael and a handy tutorial.

Your Grandfather (who appears to be an Australian or NZ solder) is carrying an FN Rifle -- not issued prior to the Vietnam war circa 1962+... at least for ANZAC service personnel. The .303 calibre rifle (Lee Enfield I think) was used by British and ANZAC forces in WWII.

Nice tutorials. Nvr heard of this 1! It s been always about color to grayscale. I believe this tutorial is a brief 1. The photo can be near photo realistic if more sections r to be broken up. Like the area around the arms and gun is great! The sky n the background is still slightly fake.

Very useful discussion, just one small point though, and not even relevant to the discussion itself. This picture does NOT date to WW2, the rifle being carried is an SLR which was not adopted by the British Army until the late 1950's or 1960's. It may have been taken in the Borneo uprising.

Cheers!

I am shooting a wedding in a month. This will be my first time to do a wedding. I have a Canon 30D. What settings do you recommend for the in door lighting. It will be dim lights. I do not waht to make the picture too light by over exposure. What do any of you recommend for me to do? P.S. I have a 580EX flash. Should I use the built in diffuser or the Sto-Fen OMEY Omni-Bounce Diffuser? Thank you so musch for reading this. I hope someone can help.
