Wise Men Come to Visit Jesus

Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehemin Judea. He was born during the timewhen Herod

was king. After Jesus was born,some wise men from the east came toJerusalem.

The wise men asked people,“Where is the child that has been born to bethe king of the Jews? We saw the star thatshows he was born. We saw the star rise in thesky in the east. We came to worship him.”

heard about this new king of the Jews. Herod was troubled about this. Andall the people in Jerusalem were worried too.

Then Herod sent the wise mento Bethlehem. Herod said to the wise men,“Go and look carefully for the child. Whenyou
nd the child, come tell me. Then I cango worship him too.”

The wise men heard the king, and then theyleft. The wise men saw the same star they hadseen in the east. The wise men followed thestar. The star went before them until it stoppedabove the place where the child was.

Thewise men were happy to see the star. Theywere very excited.

The wise men came to thehouse where the child was. They saw him withhis mother Mary. The wise men bowed downand worshiped him. The wise men opened thegifts they brought for the child. They gave himtreasures of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

But God warned the wise men in a dream.God warned them not to go back to Herod.

Sothe wise men went home to their own country adifferent way.
Jesus’ Parents Take Him to Egypt

After the wise men left, an angel from theLord came to Joseph in a dream. The angelsaid, “Get up! Take the child with his motherand escape to Egypt. Herod

will start lookingfor the child. Herod wants to kill him. Stay inEgypt until I tell you to come back.”

So Joseph got up and left for Egypt withthe child and the mother. They left during the

Joseph and Mary Return from Egypt

After Herod

died, an angel of the Lordcame to Joseph in a dream. This happenedwhile Joseph was in Egypt.

The angel said,“Get up! Take the child and his mother and goto Israel. The people that were trying to killthe child are now dead.”

So Joseph took the child and the motherand went to Israel.

But Joseph heard thatArchelaus was now king in Judea. Archelausbecame king when his father Herod died. SoJoseph was afraid to go there. Joseph waswarned in a dream. So Joseph left there andwent to the area of Galilee.

Joseph went to atown called Nazareth and lived there. And sothe thing happened that God said through theprophets.
