Introduction
 The Information Services are operating in anera of continuously changing environment. Technology and social changes are presentingnew opportunities, challenges and issuesfor libraries and information services. About 30years ago we saw the automation(computerisation) of the library’s manualroutines and about 15 years ago we saw themushrooming of library websites, webcatalogues etc. It signalled the emergence of thedigital library era. Today broadband, wirelessconnectivity, computing andcommunications technology have become anintegral part of our working lives. Libraryusers are very techno savvy. ICT is much in usein teaching, learning and researchenvironment.Current information environment isfragmented. It is presenting difficulties for thelibraries to provide access to the collections ina coherent and unified manner.
