Advantage to Titan: Problems withWatch Industry
Accuracy of time-keeping not good enough& bulky mechanicalmovement prevented creation of sleek products.
The industry was dominated by the public sector which did lowinvestment, thus styling still remained basic, choice was limited.
The watch shops were narrow, dingy and typically located in theolder, traditional markets of the city.
You went there only to buy a watch, never to browse or simply checkout.
Visual merchandising was not important.
The companies themselves did not have much contact with retailers& preferred to sell through wholesalers.
No consumer contact or research as it was a sellers' market.
