Coaster Ornament Tutorial

Supplies:

* Large alphabet stamp set (I used the retired Headline set from SU, but another set can
be substituted for this)
* Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss
* Patterened paper
* Versamark ink
* Irridescent Ice embossing powder
* 4 inch round coaster
* Crop-a-Dile or ¼ inch hole punch
* Pop-dots
* Old Olive grosgrain ribbon
* Fine grade sandpaper (or a sanding block)
* Embossing gun

Step 1:

Apply adhesive around the edges


of the 4 inch round coaster. Make
sure to get al the way to the edge.
Place a little bit in the center of
the coaster, as well.

Step 2:

Place the coaster adhesive side down


on the back side of the piece of
patterned paper that you’d like to use
for the base of your ornament.

Step 3:

Trim around the coaster.

Step 4:

Use a piece of fine grade sandpaper (or a


sanding block) to sand around the edges of
the coaster and paper.

Step 5:

Cut a piece of Kiwi


Kiss cardstock at 2 x
4 ½ inches.

Step 6:

Mount the piece of Kiwi Kiss


cardstock on the center of the coaster.

Step 7:

Trim the Kiwi Kiss cardstock to meet


flush with the coaster. Sand the edges to
smooth it out.

Step 8:

Cut a piece of
patterned paper at
1 ½ x 4 ½ inches.

Step 9:

Mount the patterned paper in


the center of the Kiwi Kiss
cardstock.

Step 10:

Trim and sand the edges of the


patterned paper.

Step 11:

Cut a strip
of
patterned
paper at
¾x4½
inches.

Step 12:

Mount the strip of patterned paper


across the center of the coaster.
Trim and sand the edges of the
patterned paper.

Step 13:

Stamp the letters J, O and Y on a scrap piece of


Kiwi Kiss cardstock with Versamark ink.

Step 14:

Sprinkle the images with Irridescent Ice


embossing powder.

Step 15:

Emboss the
images with your
heat gun.

Step 16:

Cut out the letters leaving a


small border of cardstock
around them.

Step 17:

Punch a hole in the top of the coaster


using the Crop-a-Dile or la ¼ inch
hole punch.

Step 18:

Cut a piece of Old Olive grosgrain ribbon at


9 inches long.

Step 19:

Fold the ribbon in half, thread it through the


hole and create a slip knot.

Step 20:

Tie the end of the ribbons off with a double knot and trim
the ends.

Step 21:

Apply pop-dots to the backs


of the letters.

Step 22:

Mount the letters in the center of the


coaster.

Alternate option:
* Mount a matching piece of
patterned paper on the back of
the coaster if you’d like. Or,
mount a piece of coordinating
cardstock on the back.
