On Saturday 27th November the 5pm evening Mass will conclude with a half-hour of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament for life in the womb. A couple of weeks ago, the Holy Father made an “unprecedented request” for Catholics throughout the world to join him in observing a “Vigil for All Nascent Human Life”, coinciding with first vespers of the First Sunday of Advent. The Holy Father has requested that: "all Diocesan Bishops (and their equivalent) of every particular church preside in analogous celebrations involving the faithful in their respective parishes, religious communities, associations and movements." The purpose of this prayer vigil is “is to ‘thank the Lord for his total self-giving to the world and for his Incarnation which gave every human life its real worth and dignity,’ and to ‘invoke the Lord’s protection over every human being called into existence’.” In our parish our parallel celebration of the Pope's vigil will be at the end of the 5pm Mass: there will be the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Rosary, some hymns, and Benediction.
