Parking Annual Report 2010
It is my pleasure to introduce our second Parking Annual Report under the Trac ManagementAct. In May 2010 we received the overall winner award or the best Parking Annual Report or2008/9 rom the Independent Parking Annual Report Review Group. I was honoured to collect theaward on behal o the council in recognition o our work on the report and engaging with thepublic on a range o parking issues.This year’s Parking Annual Report highlights the challenges in managing parking or over 250,000residents, 8 million visitors, and a ull calendar o events throughout the city. These include majorevents such as Party Conerences, Pride and the Brighton Marathon, all attracting many thousandso people, as well as small scale street parties where just a ew parking bays may need to besuspended.The report explains some o the other key issues or Parking Services in the past year such as theintroduction o enorcement against double parking and vehicles parked adjacent to droppedootways and how this has helped keep the city moving. We have also included the latestinormation on the outcomes we hope to achieve through eective parking enorcement such asimproved road trac saety that I am pleased to say continues to improve year on year.Over the past year three additional resident parking schemes have been introduced ollowingextensive consultation, with the majority o residents in avour. The Parking Annual Report provideslinks or residents to relevant background inormation o interest.As with last year’s report we explain how the money received rom parking enorcement, permitand pay and display income is spent on transport related projects.Parking Services welcomes your eedback on any parking issue and suggestions or improvemento the services that are provided. I am particularly pleased that this year’s Annual Report includesa chapter summarising the wide ranging consultation undertaken either by post or by meetingpeople in person.
