Humans are naturally stressed. However, too much stress can afect your weight, your healthand your quality o lie. The first steps in keeping stress down are to regularly exercise, eat healthy, keep cafeine and alcohol intake low and get enough sleep. Try the ollowing stepsand find which works or you to help reduce your stress even more.
Steps
1.
Breaks with others.
I you’re stressing out at work, make sure you take your breaks. This gets you away rom yourstressul activity and talking to others. Make sure you do not discuss your job while you’re onbreak.2.
Easy exercises.
Some exercises will help alleviate a little tension, so try a ew. Stretches will help muscles relax.Learn a ew stretches to do at your desk. Check out classes in your area or obtain a DVD to helpwith stretching exercises — pilates and yoga.In addition to stretches, there are some sel-massage techniques you can use on various partso your body to relax. You can even get a ull-body massage rom a proessional to help yourelax and reduce your stress level.3.
Avoid negative people.
Have you elt yoursel tensing up as you listen to someone complaining? Some people can’tseem to stop. Ask nicely, but i that doesn’t work, avoid them. You don’t need to share theirstress. This also goes or arguing and fighting, they should be avoided as well.4.
Focus on your positives.
Make a list o all the good things in your lie. When you’re eeling stressed, review one or moreitems on your list that make you eel good. You can also ocus on something you want to dowith your lie. Imagine not having to worry about money, getting the promotion you want,holding your first grandchild, etc. Practice visualizing your positives.5.
Walk away the stress.
A walk takes you away rom your stress. Physical activity will help break up your day and thenatural endorphins will help calm you. Try walking ast to start with and slow down as you reachyour destination. Does this help slow you down and release tension?6.
Go for a run or ride.
Need more than a walk? Try a run or a bike ride. Make sure you’re active long enough to stopthinking about what you’re worrying about so you can go back without the high stress level.7.
Hot bath.
Put in salts, bubble bath or whatever you like. Make sure no one bothers you while you’resoaking. In addition, try scented candles or light instead o harsh bulbs. Perhaps add some sotmusic to help keep your mind relaxed. When you are done, ask yoursel i you eel more relaxedand able to deal with your stress.

Listen to music.
Some music pumps you up and can add to your stress level. Some helps you relax. Listen tosome o your avorite music and explore which music helps you relax. Make yoursel a mix on aCD or a group o selections on your computer or MP3 player. Sit, relax and ocus on the musicwhen you play it.9.
Exploring books.
Escape rom your normal, stressul lie into someone else’s lie with fiction. I you find comortin the Bible, pull it out. O course, many people enjoy non-fiction as well. Discover which bookshelp you relax and keep one nearby.I you don’t eel like reading a book, how about writing one? Create a journal to put down yourthoughts, eelings and what is happening in your lie right now.10.
Go for a drive.
Many people find driving relaxing, usually along roads with scenery that you can enjoy as youdrive. I you drive a lot, you may not find this relaxing.11.
Meditation.
Meditation isn’t a quick fix. You’ll need to practice it or it to be efective. Try this simple exer-cise every day or two weeks and notice that not only does it get easier, but your stress leveldecreases.Find a quiet place and time when you know that you will not be disturbed,including phones. I you have no place inside, go outside.Give yoursel permission to relax and take time or yoursel.Sit upright, hands on knees and close your eyes. Breathe deeply into your stomach.Count 20 breaths.Continue to breathe and relax.Even i you don’t have time to meditate, just taking deep breaths and clearing your mind canhelp reduce stress. Watch a movie, show, podcast, etc.
Watch something that takes your mind of your worries so you’re not thinking about what isstressing you. Laughing is a great way to reduce stress, so think about that comedy you’vewanted to watch.13.
Other leisure activities.
Add leisure activities you enjoy to this list. Every time you do something you enjoy, you relaxand it takes your mind of what is stressing you. The idea is to take yoursel out o the situationthat is causing you stress, then doing something you enjoy that reduces your stress so you cango back to the stressul situation with the ability to meet the challenge without the stress add-ing to it.Leisure activities may include being creative with arts and crats, participating in hobbies oreven just spending time with your kids and / or pets. You may find that just one method doesn’twork. You may need to do a variety o techniques depending on the situation and location youare in at the time.
