Abstract
Mucormycosis is a rare opportunistic fungal infection caused by the phyllum zygomycota that
contains genera Mucor and Rhizopus. It occur mainly in immunocompromised patients(organ
transplant or neutropenic patients) or with an underlying disease(diabetes or acidosis). The fungi
invade vessel causing embolization and subsequent necrosis tissue, thus spreading through blood
stream. With progression disease into cranial vault, blindness, lethargy and seizures may develop,
followed by death. Management include radical surgical debridement of the infected, necrotic tissue
and systemic administration of Amphotericin B.

Here in, we are presenting a case on mucormycosis involving palate with denudation of bone in an
diabetic patients which was diagnosed by histopathological finding and got treated with high dose of
Amphotericin B and done with surgical curettage.
