Description
Authored by Harry Emerson Fosdick, this unique perspective from 1922 is useful for one's understanding today. The lectures discuss the contamination of the Christian Gospel with the illusion of an ever progressing social good.
This more or less, historically, modern development is in keeping with non-Christian (secular) expectations of future events. From a materialistic, evolutionary view of increasing perfectionism one very important fact is overlooked - much like that of one's own personal demise - this planet will end up like it began - as stardust.
In other words, this series of six lectures detail the historical roots of the 'idea' of progress and future projections that might avoid the continued commingling of non-Christian humanism (viz., a social gospel) with Christianity and the gospel of God's graceful salvation.
A very lively, good read from a classically trained mind that I recommend to the interested individual - gonzodave
