Description

An excellent and refreshing look at the present past states of all of today's operating systems - and just how much they've really changed over the years. It gives perspective about what's to come and how to expect it and from whom. A must-read for anyone planning on doing anything more serious with technology than a simple "hello world."

Interesting book. However, the title is not appropriate, though...

This is - without a doubt - the best work ever written/published that defines the differences between all the various operating systems and their respective requirements, cults, mindsets, and technologies; and more importantly, their implications for programmers and system engineers today and forever. This may have been written in 1999, but it's as applicable today as it was a decade ago, and probably will be another decade or two from now.
