The AsukaPeriod
The AsukaPeriod in Japan started at the end of the6th century and lasted about 100 years. During thisperiod, the Japanese palaces of the Royal Family(Tennoclan) remained in the Asukaregion, locatedinside the current Nara prefecture. The location of the palaces had been changed by various Emperorsand Empresses many times always staying within theAsukaarea . The term Asukacan be illustrated bytwo Chinese characters "to fly" and "bird."During the AsukaPeriod, various factors contributedto the enhancement of Japanese politics and culture. These enhancements were primarily a result of thesignificant influence of foreign powers. There werecomplicated and intense relationships betweenJapan and the Far East Asian Tang Dynasty of China,Koryoof northern Korea and the Sillaof southeastern Korea.

Generally speaking, this period was the time that therelatively small island of Japan gradually began tobuild a centralized government. They absorbed andimitated the centralized governmental system fromneighboring countries like Korea and especiallyChina. Behind the development of Japan'scentralized government is a notable relationshipamong East Asian countries. It can be said that thebirth of AsukaPeriod can't be discussed withoutdiscussing the influence of foreign power at thattime.
