MARTY¶S NEW FRIEND AMANDA¶S LETTERS TOSANTA
It was the day before Christmas and poor Amanda was sad somehow. She wrote a letter to Santaand was expecting back aPersonalized letters from Santa. Will she get it? She went down the hilland sat down on the grass resting her back on the trunk on a groovy tree by the river side and fellasleep.³Amanda´, a voice cried and as she looked behind, to her surprise she saw a cute little mouse, clad in a pretty pink costume. The mouse introduced himself as Marty, and asked her to playwith him, and they soon they got busy playing and got along well with each other. Marty took out a magic stick from his costume and touched it on Amanda¶s hand, and soon they took off flying in the sky just like birds. Amanda could see the hills, the forests, the rivers, and her houseand even could touch the clouds. The whole world was beneath her as they flew higher andhigher. Amanda was overwhelmed with joy. After a while of flying they glided down and landeddown at a place which seemed like a fairy land. The flowers, the plants, the houses andeverything around looked divine. Everything there was made of candies, chocolates, goodies and pastries. Marty collected couple of them and they both nibbled on the heavenly platter. After finishing eating Amanda asked Marty whether he knew ³Santa, . Marty smiled and nodded, Hey!You know, I live with him and assist him in his work by handling all the Letters to Santa. As she heard this her eyes glittered like stars. While Marty gazed at her, she took out a neatlyfolded letter, one of her Santa letters from her silk skirt pocket, and handed over to Marty, requesting him to deliver it to Santa. After they promised each other that they would remaingood friends forever. And the mouse Marty presented a tiny silver mouse a replica of himself toAmanda as memento.Suddenly a wave of cold wind blushed Amanda`s face and she woke up, and to her surprise shewas still at the river side. Where is Marty? The cute mouse and where is the fairy land? Shewondered if it all was a dream. As she looked down on grass, she spotted a tiny glittering object, and as she gazed at it closely, she was amazed to find the silver replica of the mouse Marty. She picked it up and kept it carefully in her skirt pocket and quietly left for home. On reaching homeshe did not mention anything to anybody. Since it was Christmas Eve the celebration was in fullswing. Everybody was merry making but Amanda was relatively quiet and as usual went to bedearly. After completing prayers she fell asleep.AT 5 O¶clock sharp when she woke up and looked under her pillow and was thrilled to find a redstocking filled with candies and goodies.
