Objective: Reading andperforming books from manydifferent genres of literature andhaving tons of fun along the waywith your fellow classmates
The student demonstratescomprehension and shows evidence of awarranted and responsible explanationof a variety of literary and informationaltexts.
The student consistently reads at leasttwenty-five books or book equivalentseach year. The materials should includetraditional and contemporary literature(both fiction and non-fiction) as well asmagazines, newspapers, textbooks, andelectronic material. Such reading shouldrepresent a diverse collection of material from at least three differentliterary forms and from at least fivedifferent writers.
The student understands and acquiresnew vocabulary and uses it correctly inreading and writing.
