What: Fashion Show and Awards Reception: "Put on your Hollywood"


When: Model Competition 7:30pm to 8:30pm, Fashion Awards 8:30pm to 9pm, Fashion Show, 9pm to 10pm
Where: Club 24, 2122 24th Place NE, Washington, DC
Info: Fashion show presentation by UFW designers and model competition where the two winners will win a
trip to Paris or London. This will lead into the Urban Fashion Award presentations and then the official after
party with Bad Girls Club Natalie Nunn. DC Urban Fashion Week will generate a significant amount of hype
for the fashion show presentation with over 15 different designers showcasing the hottest video fashion show
that will ever take place in the region, moving the DC urban fashion movement to the forefront. As we know
DC is the city that created the entire Go-Go music movement. The DC UFW will provide a tribute to Go-Go
music during the awards ceremony. A UFW award will be presented to 6-8 designers, wardrobe stylists, make
up artists, and boutiques for there outstanding accomplishments in the field urban fashion.

What: African Art Museum show
When: 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. daily
Where: National Museum of African Art
Info: Mary Jackson, a small, almost delicate woman with chin-length dark hair, walks through an exhibit of
baskets -- some flat and tray-like, some bowl-shaped, some lidded. Around her, the fragrance of sweet-grass and
bulrush scents the air. Coiled baskets such as these, Jackson is explaining, have been made by Africans and
African Americans for hundreds of years. The curious and the converted can go to the Smithsonian museum to
see her creations, along with those of dozens of other named artists. The show covers 300 years of history,
beginning with the need in Africa for a tool for rice cultivation. The objects range from the 19th-century
examples made by enslaved hands to the intricate work of today's artisans, such as Elizabeth Mazyck, Ida

Info: "The Man" is a 1972 political drama directed by Joseph Sargent and starring James Earl Jones. Jones plays
Douglass Dilman, the President pro tempore of the United States Senate, who succeeds to the presidency

screenplay, written by Rod Serling, is largely based upon The Man, a novel by Irving Wallace.

What: Norwegian Train Display

Where: Union Station
Info: The giant Norwegian model train has enchanted visitors every December for 14 years, as it winds through
the mountains and fjords of Norway. Each train is hand-crafted by an expert model builder and is a replica of a
current or historic Norwegian train. The display launch coincides with the regional kick-off for the 2010 U.S.
Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” campaign.

What: International Garden Railway and Washington Landmarks Botanical Exhibit
Where: US Botanic Garden
When: November 27- January 2, 10am-5pm daily, extended until 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in December
Info: The famous garden railway will feature world landmarks from the continents of Africa, Asia Europe and
South America. Along with the train display, the conservatory will contain the garden's popular holiday exhibit
featuring Washington landmark buildings all created with plant materials set amidst pathways and pools of
blooming poinsettias and other holiday plants. Admission is free.

2. Renewable Energy and Wildlife Analyst - DC
Info: The Renewable Energy and Wildlife Analyst provides critical assistance in analyzing policies for the
development of renewable energy projects to determine their impacts on wildlife, habitat, and unique lands and
resources. As a key member of the renewable energy team, the Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and

energy and transmission corridor projects in the eastern United States with emphasis on wind energy projects

Info: Incoming Council Chairman Kwame Brown seeks to fill several job openings. None of the jobs are
“wired”; the Chairman-elect is looking for the best candidates for the positions. Successful candidates must
reside in the District of Columbia or immediately relocate to the District of Columbia. The General Counsel is
the chief parliamentarian of the Council who advises the Council on legislative policy options and represents

Last Bite: Seeking Nominees for Howard U. 2011 Charter Day Distinguished Alumni Awards
Info: Howard University alumni are urged to identify and nominate alumni for the distinguished alumni
achievement awards to be presented during the 2011 Charter Day observances, March 11 and 12, 2011.
The selection criteria for candidates are inherent in the award's name, "Alumni Award for Distinguished
Postgraduate Achievement." Graduates residing in foreign countries should also be considered.
Detailed biographical information on the nominee(s) along with other pertinent data must be included with the
submission of the candidate's name. The person submitting the nominee's name should also provide his/her own
name, address, office telephone number and email address. The nomination form is available on the University's
webpage at www.howard.edu/charterday. Applications must be postmarked by November 29, 2010 to Mr.
Jeremy C. Randall, Director of Regional Events, Office of University Events and Special Projects, Howard
Center, Howard University, Room 829, 2225 Georgia Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20059. The information
