1. The mechanism of Egyptian and Phoenician script (writing)
echanisms of Phoenician and Egyptian(hieroglyphics) writing system are same, butentirely different from Greek. In Phoenician andEgypt writing system (script):1) We write from right to left (in Greek fromleft to right)2) There are letters only for the consonants:p, v, f…., for long vowels (the case of two: aa,oo, ii…) and for groups: x, b, d, g = ks, mp, nt,γκ.
are the case of two aa, uu, ii…after from a consonant, e.g.: Abr-aa-m, Dan-ii-l,m-uu-mer, Ααρών, διίσταμαι, πλέετε…
are the case of 5 vowels: α, ε,ο, ι, ου. In script there is small signs for eachvowel, that putted on or down of consonant thathave vowel, but usually omitted.
2. The Phoenician alphabet
In Phoenician alphabet there are 22 letters.The Phoenician and Egyptian letters: Beth,Gimel, Daleth = two sounds of consonants, likeLatin letters: mp/b, nk/g, nt/d and different fromGreek letters B, Γ, Δ = V, GH (like you), DH(like those, not as thing) = one sound of consonants.The Phoenician and Egyptian letters aleph,ayin, yod = two sounds: αα, oo/ουου, ii, as inwords: Abr-aa-m, Dan-ii-l, m-uu-mer, Αα-ρών,δ-ιίσταμαι… and different from Greek a, o, u, i.Long and sort vowels thereare not in Greek script. Egyptians letters are fromideograms (have schema of animals, things etc), but havephonetic pronunciation. Theabove hieroglyphics are phoneticwriting, not ideographic.
