A. Pre-test informationi) Registration
You may either download IELTS
registration form
or by following the link given at the end of this information sheetor obtain it from designated Standard Chartered Banks (SCB) - SCB banking details are available at the end of thissheet.You must attach a clear photocopy of your
Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
Passport (whichyou have mentioned on the form), two coloured passport size photographs with out eye glasses (not older than sixmonths) and your payment proof (SCB deposit slip, Demand Draft in favour of respective British Council office).Please write your full name on the backside of each photograph. One photograph must be pasted securely withglue and the other attached using a paper clip to the IELTS application form.You must follow the procedure laid down in the
Notice to IELTS Candidates
attached to the application form toensure that your application form is processed without delay.Incomplete application forms will not be processed and candidates will be informed about the reasons for objection.
Important Notices
In line with advice from government immigration agencies, a change to the regulations relating to IELTScandidate photographs was implemented 1 January 2010. Candidates registering for IELTS now,
 wear glasses in the photographs they submit for IELTS test registration.
British Council IELTS Test Fee will be PKR 13000/- from 1 January, 2011.Those who wish to register for
IELTS test date, scheduled from 1 January 2011 onwards, will haveto pay PKR 13000/- as IELTS test fee.Legal Disclaimer Statement:
“The British Council and the UK examining boards take all responsible steps toprovide continuity of services. We feel sure you will understand, however, that we cannot be held responsible forany interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control or any loss or damage or injury or death is caused toany candidate at the examination venue during examination due to any act of terrorism or otherwise. Ifexaminations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normalservice as soon as possible. The British Council’s responsibility will be limited to the refund of the registration fee orre-testing at a later stage.”
ii) Payments
Candidates residing in cities where there is a British Council office must deposit the IELTS test fee of
PKR 12000/-
in the designated Standard Chartered Bank - banking details are available at the end of this sheet.If you reside in a city which does not have a designated Standard Chartered Bank, you can make test fee paymentthrough a bank draft drawn in favour of the British Council office at which the IELTS application form is to besubmitted. British Council contact information is stated in the column 1 of the below British Council Bank Accounttable.Please retain photocopies of the IELTS application form, stamped bank deposit /bank draft and courier despatchslip.
Note: Candidates must dispatch their complete registration forms to respective British Council Officewithin seven working days after they deposit the fee into our bank account.
 iii) Special Arrangements
Candidates requiring special arrangements due to temporary, permanent or long-term disability, such ashearing/sight impairment, dyslexia or speech impediment; or short-term difficulties such as broken arm must give
three months notice
to British Council Examinations Services so that the appropriate guidance and approval canbe taken from the Special Circumstances Unit at Cambridge ESOL.
iv) Retakes
1 May 2006
the policy on candidates re-taking IELTS has been amended
The restriction on re-taking IELTSwithin 90 days has been removed and candidates will be able to repeat the test whenever they wish.
v) Acknowledgement
The British Council will forward an acknowledgement through email to candidates within
working days of receiptof an IELTS application form.
vi) Venue Details
After the acknowledgement, IELTS Venue Letters are sent out to the candidates
4-7 days
before the test. Ifcandidates do not receive this venue letter they must contact British Council before the test date. Please note thatthe Speaking interviews may be conducted seven days before or after the written test.
vii) Test Centre Transfer Request
Candidates are required to inform the Centre at which they initially registered at least
30 working days
prior to thetest date if they may wish for their test Centre to be transferred, for which PKR 500/- will be charged asadministrative fee. Requests will be processed on the availability of seats at the new Centre within Pakistan only. Aconfirmation of successful transfer of Centre request will be communicated to you via Email.
viii) Transfer of Test Date
 A request using the “Test Date Transfer & Cancellation Form” for transferring of test date (i.e. postponement orpreponement) to another date must reach the centre in original and at least five weeks prior to the test date. Anadministrative fee of
PKR 3000/- 
would be payable by the applicant which must be paid along with the applicationfor transferring of test date. The allotment of the next date of test will be at the sole discretion of the centre andsubject to availability. No request will be entertained after the cut-off period i.e. less than 5 weeks prior to the testdate.
Test date transfer fee will be PKR 3250/- for the tests scheduled after 1 January 2011 onwards
ix) Cancellation of Test Date
All applications for cancellation and refund must be sent to the centre using the Test Date Transfer andCancellationForm 1with the original receipt of payment of test fee. If the application for cancellation is received fiveweeks prior to the test date, then an administrative fee of 25% will be deducted from the examination fee and thebalance amount will be refunded to the applicant within three weeks from the date of receipt of the application.No request will be entertained after the cut-off period i.e. less than five weeks prior to the test date
Request under Unavoidable Circumstances
 Late requests for transfer or cancellation can be accepted by the centre five days from the test date only in thecase of the following extreme unavoidable circumstances:
Serious illness – linked to hospital admission or other illness making the candidate not able tosit for the test. For example typhoid, jaundice, eye flu, infectious disease, surgery etc. Pleasenote that ordinary illnesses such as viral fever, cough, cold, stomach upset etc will not beconsidered.
Serious injury – linked to hospital admission or injury such as fracture of the hand used forwriting etc.
Loss or bereavement – death of an immediate family member, i.e. spouse, parent, sibling orchild.
Victim of an accident
Military Service
 We will require the following documentary evidence to support the application:
Medical certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner
Hospital admission certificate
Police Report / FIR
Death certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner
Signed and dated letter from organisation on their letterheadThe candidate must submit relevant original document with the request form. In such cases candidatesalso have to submit Test Date Transfer and CancellationForm 2.The acceptance of the form is subject to approval of the test centre.Refunds to candidates who lodge an overpaid test fee refund request will only be considered:If the fee, they have deposited, is Rs1000 or more. x) IELTS Specimen Pack and Handbook
The IELTS Specimen Material Pack includes a practice IELTS test with an answer key and a CD of the listeningtest. It assists candidates to get some idea of their level and familiarise themselves with the format of the test.The IELTS Specimen Material Pack is available from British Council Examinations Services for Rs 975/-
Pleasenote that these materials have been produced according to the University of Cambridge Local ExaminationsSyndicate (UCLES) Question Paper Production cycle. Online practice material and the IELTS Handbook isavailable on the IELTS web sitewww.ielts.org Candidates residing in cities where there is a British Council office can deposit the IELTS Specimen Material packfee in the respectiveBritish Council bank account. Outstation candidates can forward a bank draft drawn in favourof the nearest British Council office. The British Council Examinations Services will send the IELTS Specimen packto the candidate by courier on receipt of a stamped bank deposit slip or a bank draft of the same amount within

of receipt of request.

Passport, British Councilvenue notice letter, lead pencils, sharpener, erasers and blue/black ballpoint or pen in transparent stationery caseonly.Except CNIC and Passport no other type of ID document is acceptable. Any candidate without an original and validID document will not be allowed to take the test and will be marked absent on the test date and will lose their fulltest fee.
Important Note
* Candidates must bring the same ID document to the test as they quoted on theirapplication form. Candidates who fail to do this will not be allowed to take the test.In case you lose your ID document after applying for the test and at least one day prior to the test day,please immediately inform IELTS staff at your local British Council office without delay and they willguide you further.No result will be issued to candidates who are involved in impersonation and/or misconduct. A malpractice reportwill be circulated to all IELTS centers worldwide.
