Farmer Burrows is just an ordinary farmer with an ordinary farm until one daysome interesting gophers move in. From then on, Farmer Burrows’ elds becomeextraordinary when the resident gophers begin stacking everything. The cows, chickens and even the tractors are stacked high into the sky, one on top of theother. This proves to be not only a strange sight to see, but a tricky situation for Farmer Burrows. Find out how Farmer Burrows deals with the stacking gophersand makes the most of his gopher problem. In this delightfully funny story, author and illustrator

takes the old adage of
“if life gives you lemons, make lemonade”
and surprises everyone withthe outcome. The setting was inspired by Mike’schildhood, growing up in rural Alberta and observingfarm life. His captivating illustrations are both excitingand lush in colour and will appeal to children youngand old who want to spend some great family timereading.

“Then he noticed the problems his cows were having in the elds.Something had to be done. The gophers had to go.” The Gophers inFarmer Burrows’ Field, page 3
Mike’s parents encouraged him to follow his dreams, andever since he was young he drew a lot, and everywherehe went. He is always thinking of his audience, hopingthat his stories can bring them bits of inspiration to usetheir own imagination in life.Mike grew up outside of Sherwood Park, Alberta, and after marrying his wife, they moved to the city of Spruce Grove where he now resides.
Mike Boldt
has been creating most of his life. Inspired by the artwork of BillPeet, he loved to write stories, especially the ones he could draw pictures for.His mom used to give him and his brother journals to write their ideas andstories in, and he would barely nish one story before something would givehim an idea for the next. As he got older, Mike illustrated children’s booksfor other writers, but had always dreamed of illustrating and writing his ownbooks. The Gopher in Farmer Burrows’ Field is that rst of Mike’s books thathe wrote and illustrated.
