Intelligent Traffic Monitoring

• April 2006 saw the implementation of

the wireless-based e-TrafficScan
system.
This system rides on a local taxi
operator’s taxi dispatch system –
which utilizes GPS receivers in the
taxis – to collect speed information
along major roads in Singapore.
This results in more accurate
information on traffic conditions on
a greater number of arterial roads.
Current projects

• (TFTDS) - Taxi fleet tracking and

dispatching system
• Mobile data terminals (MDT) in all our
taxis
• newer version of STARiS

MRT Future Plans

• Expansion of 4 lines are under

construction
• Expects the daily ridership of 4.6
millions in 2020
• Extension will bring the MRT to 278
km by 2020
• Planned a railway Network of 540 km
by 2050
• Downtown line, Thomson line and
eastern region line are expect to
finish by 2013, 2018, and 2020
