SarahSteelmanhasadocumentedhistoryofvotingtoenrichtriallawyersattheexpenseofMissouribusinesses–despitehavingaconflictofinterestbecauseherhusband,DavidSteelman,isoneofthestate’stoptriallawyers.Thisisjustasampleofthevotesshehasmade:-Votedagainstfairstandardsforevaluatingharassmentclaims.(SB428,2001)-Votedagainstaccountabilityforworkers’compensationcosts.(HB321,2003)-Whenareasonableattemptattortreformthreatenedtheprofitabilityofmedicalmalpracticelawsuits,sheopposedit.(HB1304,2004)-Hervotesdidn’tjustgoafterbankaccounts-shefoughttostopjudgesfrombeingabletousetheirdiscretiontoprotecttradesecretsfrombeingpublishedincourtdocuments.(SS#2/SCS/SB1152,2002)
