2081R E S O L U T I O NWHEREAS, For 110 years, families have come together tocelebrate their faith at Saint John Missionary Baptist Church inHouston; andWHEREAS, Established on August 7, 1899, Saint John MissionaryBaptist Church has since played a vital role in the community,providing area residents with myriad opportunities for spiritualgrowth, fellowship, and community outreach; its worthwhileprograms include jail and youth ministries, the We Do RecoverMinistry for those overcoming health and substance abuse problems,and the Missionary Ministry that assists the less fortunate; andWHEREAS, The congregation has benefited from the ableleadership of 12 dedicated pastors through the decades, and todaythat tradition of service continues under the direction of Keven D.Johnson, who has ministered at Saint John since 2007; andWHEREAS, Saint John Missionary Baptist Church has long servedas a source of inspiration and guidance to those who worship there,and its continued existence is a tribute to the unwaveringcommitment of its members, both past and present; now, therefore,be itRESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st TexasLegislature hereby commemorate the 110th anniversary of Saint JohnMissionary Baptist Church and extend to the congregation sincerebest wishes for many more years of shared prayer and fellowship;and, be it further123456789101112131415161718192021222324
