2. RED: Conjunto de equipos conectados por medio de cables, señales, ondas o cualquier otro
método de transporte de datos, que comparten información , recursos y servicios.
3. ELECTRODO: Es una placa de metal, un conductor utilizado para hacer contacto con una
parte no metálica de un circuito, por ejemplo, un semiconductor.
5. JUMPERS: Es un elemento para interconectar dos terminales de manera temporal sin tener
que efectuar una operación que requiera herramienta adicional. Dicha unión de terminales
cierra el circuito eléctrico del que forma parte.
8. ROTULAR: Proceso mediante el cual se marcan cada uno de los cables de la sala de
telecomunicaciones para identificarlos al momento de reparar o modificar conexiones.
9. EF: Instalación de Ingreso. Es el punto en el cual los cables del exterior del edificio
atraviesan la pared o van al sótano.
10. AREA DE TRABAJO: Es el área donde funciona una sala de telecomunicaciones individual.
Ésta ocupa un piso o una parte de un piso de un edificio y debe contar con las herramientas
y comodidades necesarias para un buen desarrollo de las actividades.
11. AISLANTE: Material que no permite que la corriente circule, o restringe la circulación. Se
produce cuando se cubre un elemento de una instalación eléctrica con un material que no es
conductor de la electricidad, es decir, un material que resiste el paso de la corriente a través
del elemento que recubre y lo mantiene en su trayectoria a lo largo del conductor. Dicho
material se denomina aislante eléctrico.
14. REGISTRO: El registro de un cable establece que un cable vaya desde el punto A al punto
B. Es un tipo de dato estructurado formado por la unión de varios elementos pertenecientes
a una misma estructura.
16. HVAC: Calefacción, Ventilación y Aire acondicionado. Conjunto de métodos y técnicas que
estudian y analizan el tratamiento del aire en cuanto a su enfriamiento, calentamiento,
humidificación, calidad, movimiento, etc.
17. INTERFAZ: Es la conexión entre dos ordenadores o máquinas de cualquier tipo dando como
resultado una comunicación entre ambas.
20. VOLTAJE: Es la fuerza electromotriz (FEM) capaz de hacer circular electrones a través de
un conducto provocando el flujo de una corriente eléctrica. También se le llama tensión
eléctrica o diferencia de potencial. Su unidad de medida es el voltio (V).
21. TECNICO: Que conoce muy bien los procedimientos de una ciencia, un arte o un oficio y los
lleva a la práctica con especial habilidad.
25. SALA DE EQUIPAMIENTO: Sala similar a la TR, que puede existir en redes de mayor
tamaño o en compañías que se especializan en telecomunicaciones, puede alojar el marco
de distribución principal, protección secundaria de voltaje, receptores satelitales,
moduladores y equipos de Internet de alta velocidad.
26. DENSIDAD DEL CABLEADO: Se refiere al número de cables que entran en una sala de
telecomunicaciones. Siempre que sea posible, el tamaño de una TR debe ajustarse a la
densidad de cableado del área en que funciona.
27. PANELES DE CONEXIÓN: Permite a los técnicos de la red gestionar el teléfono y las
conexiones a Internet con facilidad. El propósito del panel de conexión es mantener las
conexiones de red, fundamentalmente, se conecta distintos componentes y puntos de venta
para que las redes pueden operar de manera eficaz.
28. INTERFERENCIA: Proceso que altera, modifica o destruye una señal durante su trayecto en
el canal existente entre el emisor y el receptor.
34. KILOPASCAL (kPa): Es una unidad de presión que equivale a 1000 pascales. El pascal
(símbolo Pa) es la unidad de presión del Sistema Internacional de Unidades. Se define como
la presión que ejerce una fuerza de 1 newton sobre una superficie de 1 metro cuadrado
normal a la misma.
35. POP: Protocolo de la oficina de correo. Se utiliza en clientes locales de correo para obtener
los mensajes de correo electrónico almacenados en un servidor remoto. Es un protocolo de
nivel de aplicación en el Modelo OSI.
36. STP: Par Trenzado Apantallado. Es un cable similar al UTP con la diferencia que cada par
tiene una pantalla protectora, además de tener una lámina externa de aluminio o de cobre
trenzado alrededor del conjunto de pares, diseñada para reducir la absorción del ruido
eléctrico. Este cable es más costoso y difícil de manipular que el UTP. Se emplea en redes
de ordenadores como Ethernet o Token Ring.
38. DISPOSITIVO: aparato, artificio, mecanismo o elemento de un sistema. Los dispositivos son
elementos de la PC, que se requieren en todo momento para que la maquina funcione de
manera correcta. Es decir, son imprescindibles al momento de usar la PC.
40. CABLE CRUZADO: Cable que interconecta todas las señales de salida en un conector con
las señales de entrada en el otro conector, y viceversa. Utiliza un estándar diferente a cada
extremo (T568A-T568B) para conectar dos dispositivos iguales.
41. CABLE DIRECTO: Sirve para conectar dispositivos desiguales, como un computador con un
hub o switch. En este caso ambos extremos del cable deben tener la misma distribución
(T568A-T568A; T568B-T568B).
42. CABLE TRANSPUESTRO: Se utiliza como cable de consola para conectar una
computadora a un router o a un switch mediante el puerto de la consola. Un extremo del
cable se tenderá según el esquema de cableado 568-B o A, mientras que el otro extremo se
invertirá pin por pin.
43. SWITCH: Dispositivo digital de lógica de interconexión de redes de computadores que opera
en la capa dos (nivel de enlace de datos) del modelo OSI. Su función es interconectar dos o
más segmentos de red.
44. ROUTER: Dispositivo de hardware para interconexión de red de ordenadores que opera en
la capa tres (nivel de red). Un enrutador es un dispositivo para la interconexión de redes
informáticas que permite asegurar el enrutamiento de paquetes entre redes o determinar la
ruta que debe tomar el paquete de datos.
45. HUB: Dispositivo que permite centralizar el cableado de una red y poder ampliarla. Esto
significa que dicho dispositivo recibe una señal y repite esta señal emitiéndola por sus
diferentes puertos.
47. IC: Conexión Cruzada Intermedia. Aloja el cableado y los dispositivos que se utilizan en un
edificio individual. Está equipada con paneles de conexión para conectar cableado de par
trenzado, unidades de conexiones de fibra, switches, hubs y dispositivos de administración
de cables.
48. HC: Conexión Cruzada Horizontal. Es la sala de telecomunicaciones (TR) más cercana a las
estaciones de trabajo. HC es un panel de conexión o un dispositivo de red como un
repetidor, un hub o un switch.
49. CD: Conexión del Distribuidor de Campus. También llamada conexión cruzada principal
(MC), es el centro de la red.
50. BD: Distribuidor de Edificio. Conocida también como conexión cruzada intermedia (IC) se
conecta a la MC y puede instalar el equipo de un edificio en el campus.
51. FD: Distribuidor de Piso. Llamado también conexión cruzada horizontal (HC) alberga los
cables de distribución en un solo piso de un edificio.
53. CP: Punto de Consolidación. Es un panel que está sujeto de manera permanente en la
pared, en el techo o en las columnas de apoyo. Sirven en áreas de trabajo donde hay
muebles modulares. El acceso al punto de consolidación es limitado.

2. RED: A set of computers connected by wires, signals, waves or any other method of
transporting data, sharing information, resources and services.
3. ELECTRODE: A metal plate, a conductor used to make contact with a nonmetallic part of a
circuit, for example, a semiconductor.
4. TELECOMMUNICATIONS ROOM (TR): They are the place where there are connections
that distribute services from the backbone cabling to the horizontal cabling. Is an area within
a building that houses the computers in the telecommunications cabling system. This
includes the mechanical connections and cross connections to the system backbone and
horizontal cabling.
7. DEMARCATION POINT: The name (Demarc) to the point where the authority and
responsibility passes from the service provider to the customer. The demarcation point is the
point at which the external wiring is connected to the backbone cabling within the building.
Represents the boundary between the responsibility of the service provider and client.
8. LABEL: The process by which mark each one of the wires of the telecommunications room
to identify the time to repair or modify connections.
9. EF: Entrance Facility. It is the point at which the cables outside the building through the wall
or go to the basement.
10. AREA OF WORK: This is the area where there is a single telecommunications room. It
occupies a floor or part of one floor of a building and must have the tools and amenities
necessary for healthy development of activities.
11. INSULATION: Material that allows current to flow, or restrict circulation. Occurs when an
item is covered electrical installations with a material that is not electrically conductive, a
material that resists the passage of current through the element that covers and keeps it in
its path along the conductor. Such material is called an electrical insulator.
12. CROSSTALK: Interference from adjacent cables. When produced at the point where the
connector joins the cable is known as for Crosstalk.
14. REGISTRATION: The registration of a cable requires a cable going from point A to point B.
Data type is a structure formed by the union of several elements belonging to the same
structure.
15. CABLE: Conductor (usually copper) or set of them usually coated with an insulating or
protective material for the purpose of conducting electricity.
16. HVAC: Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. Set of methods and techniques to study
and analyze the treatment of air in terms of cooling, heating, humidification, quality,
movement, etc.
17. INTERFACE: The connection between two computers or machines of any kind resulting in
communication between them.
18. EMI: Electromagnetic Interference. It is the disruption that occurs in any circuit, component or
electronic system caused by an external source to it.
19. RFI: Radio Frequency Interference. This disturbance can disrupt, degrade or limit the
performance of that system. The source of the interference can be any object, whether
artificial or natural, having rapidly varying electric currents, originating from sources of radio,
radar, and microwave.
20. VOLTAGE: The electromotive force (EMF) capable of circulating electrons through a channel
causing the flow of electrical current. Also called voltage or potential difference. Its unit of
measurement is the volt (V).
21. TECHNICIAN: That is well aware of the procedures of a science, an art or craft and is
implemented with a special skill.
24. SAFETY: Quality or insurance status. Guarantee or set of guarantees given to someone or
meeting a particular standard.
25. ROOM FACILITIES: Room similar to the TR, which can exist in larger networks or
companies that specialize in telecommunications, can accommodate the main distribution
frame, high voltage protection, satellite receivers, modulators and high-speed internet
equipment speed.
26. WIRING DENSITY: Refers to the number of cables that come in a telecommunications room.
Whenever possible, the size of a TR must conform to the wiring density of the area in which it
operates.
27. CONNECTING PANELS: Enables network technicians to manage the phone and Internet
connections with ease. The purpose of the patch panel is to maintain network connections
primarily connect various components and points of sale so that networks can operate
effectively.
28. INTERFERENCE: A process that alters modifies or destroys a signal during its path in the
channel between the transmitter and receiver.
30. GROUNDING: The interconnection of several computers so that they connect to earth to
protect devices from over-discharge of energy.
34. KILOPASCALS (kPa): A unit of pressure equal to 1000 Pascal. The Pascal (symbol Pa) is
the pressure unit of the International System of Units. It is defined as the pressure exerts a
force of 1 Newton over an area of 1 square meter normal to it.
35. POP: Protocol to the post office. It is used in local mail clients for e-mail messages stored on
a remote server. It is an application layer protocol in the OSI model.
36. STP: Shielded Twisted Pair. It is similar to a UTP cable with the difference that each pair has
a screen protector, besides having an outer layer of aluminum or copper twisted pairs around
the set, designed to reduce the absorption of electrical noise. This cable is more expensive
and difficult to manipulate than the UTP. It is used in computer networks such as Ethernet or
Token Ring.
37. ADMINISTRATION: It is social science, technology and art that deal with the planning,
organization, direction and control of resources (human, financial, material, and
technological, knowledge) of the organization or company.
38. DEVICE: Appliance, device, mechanism or element of a system. The devices are elements
of the PC, which are required at all times so that the machine is working properly. That is, are
essential when using the PC.
40. CROSS CABLE: Cable that connects all output signals on a connector to the input signals
on the other connector and vice versa. It uses a different standard on each end (T568A-
T568B) to connect two devices the same.
41. BY CABLE: Allows you to connect dissimilar devices, such as a computer with a hub or
switch. In this case both ends of the cable must have the same distribution (T568A-T568A,
T568B-T568B).
42. ROLLOVER CABLE: Used as a console cable to connect a computer to a router or switch
through the console port. One end of the cable will tend according to wiring diagram 568-B or
A, while the other end by pin to pin is reversed.
43. SWITCH: Digital logic device networking of computers that operate at layer two (data link
layer) of OSI model. Its function is to interconnect two or more network segments.
44. ROUTER: A device for interconnecting hardware computer network that operates at layer
three (network layer). A router is a device for the interconnection of computer networks that
allows secure routing packets between networks or determines the path to take the data
packet.
45. HUB: A device that enables centralized network cabling and power zoom. This means that
the device receives a signal and repeats the signal emitted by its various ports.
46. MC: Cross-Connection Home. It is the main rallying point of a building. The MC is the
telecommunications room (TR) rates it controls the rest of the TR, is where all cables
originate and where the majority of the team.
47. IC: Intermediate Cross-Connection. It houses the wiring and devices used in a single
building. It is equipped with patch panels for connecting twisted-pair cabling, fiber
connections units, switches, hubs and cable management devices.
48. HC: Horizontal Cross-Connection. It is the telecommunications room (TR) is closest to the
workstations. HC is a patch panel or a network device as a repeater, a hub or switch.
49. CD: Connecting the Campus Distributor. Also called the main cross-connect (MC), is the
center of the network.
50. BD: Building Distributor. Also known as intermediate cross-connect (IC) is connected to the
MC and you can install the equipment of a building on campus.
51. FD: Distributor of Floor. Also called horizontal cross-connect (HC) has distribution cables on
a single floor of a building.
52. MUTO: Connections for multi-user telecommunications outlets. It is a device that allows
users to move, add features and make changes in the distribution of modular furniture
without re-lay the wiring.
53. CP: Consolidation Point. It is a panel that is permanently attached to the wall, ceiling or
support columns. They are used in work areas where modular furniture. Access to the
consolidation point is limited.
