Preliminary Record Form for discoveries on the Seabed/ on board / in intertidal zone / on land

Protocols for Archaeological Discoveries (PADs) are systems of monitoring for unexpected or incidental finds relating to the historic environment, and have come into use predominantly in the marine sphere where construction tends to be a 24 hour operation, involving multiple vessels, where conventional watching briefs (routinely used in the terrestrial sector) are not cost effective. They are recommended in Historic Environment Guidance for the Offshore Renewable Energy Sector.
